Diabetes is a slow killer with no known curable treatments. However, its complications
can be reduced through proper awareness and timely treatment.
Through this surveys, we had give some motivation, explanation and awareness to people about
healthy lifestyle, how to protect or prevent of diseases in life.
Firstly, question 1 asked about doing exercise in a week among youth. The result shows
the lowest percentage is 9.1 % of 33 persons who did everyday exercise. The highest percentage
referred to 42.4 % of youth who did 2 to 3 times a week.
According to survey, we have assumed that youth or mostly students have busy lifestyles in
which during their collages.
There is a statement shows how important exercise in daily it is. In the United States, the
CDC/ACSM consensus statement and the Surgeon General's report states that every adult should
participate in moderate exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes daily. It is performed for various
reasons,
includes
increasing
growth
and
development,
preventing
aging,
strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or
maintenance, and merely enjoyment.
Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system and helps prevent diseases of
affluence such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity.
Next, the result on question 2 shows the highest percentage of students daily average
sleeping hours is 6 hours with 27.3 % of 33 persons while 6.1 % of 33 persons has 5 hours of
sleeping hours in a day.
Most of us know that getting a good nights sleep is important, but too few of us actually make
those eight or so hours between the sheets a priority. Sleep plays an important role in your
physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood
vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease,
high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.
Referred to National Sleep Foundation website, they had state that recommended range for youth
and adults is from 7 to 8 hours. But, most respondents in our survey had 6 hours of their sleeping
hours which it included in appropriate range for youth and adults.
Third question in survey asked about diabetes hereditary. About 51.5 % of students do not
have diabetes hereditary and 42.4 % have diabetes hereditary. The remaining may have close
family members which have had diabetes.
According to The NetDoctor Medical Team, they are also not so sure about development of
diabetes among families. What can be concludes here is there are two types of diabetes. It can
occurs in two forms
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes), which occurs in young people and it is the
more severe form, requiring insulin injections.
Type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent diabetes), which is milder and occurs in older
people and it usually controlled with diet and tablets.
As far as you are concerned about your healthiness, your diet in daily and your lifestyles through
day to day, the chances of develops any diseases are low. As far as the people with diabetes are
concerned about sticking to their treatment and their diet then they should continue to remain
well for many, many years.
Based on result question 4, asking about sugar intake in daily. There are 22 out of 33
respondents having an adequate sugar intake in daily. Sugar is found naturally in fruit,
vegetables and dairy foods. It is also added to foods and drinks by the food manufactures, or by
ourselves at home.
Here are some facts that we might not know yet, it is about sugar intake in our daily
recommendation. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the maximum amount of
added sugars you should eat in a day for men is 150 calories per day (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons)
while for women is 100 calories per day (25 grams or 6 teaspoons).
The result in question 5 shows that mostly youth or students with 57.6 % skip their
breakfast sometime. The second highest percentage with 24.2 % has skipped their meal in the
morning. The remaining percentage shows the students that have never skipped their breakfast
for everyday. Breakfast provides many benefits to our health and wellbeing.
Besides providing the energy, breakfast can be good for waistline too, research shows those who
eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight
range compared with breakfast skippers. If you skip breakfast, you are more likely to reach for
high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning and that may cause diabetes, obesity, high blood
pressure and heart disease.
