JDE Local Database

The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 9.1.x Deployment Server requires a database management system to be installed
locally on the Deployment Server itself. With JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications releases prior to 9.1, customers have a
choice between Oracle Database Enterprise Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition as the local database.
Distinct Deployment Server installation CDs (or downloadable images from Oracle E-Delivery) are available for each
database. Beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications 9.1 Microsoft SQL Server Express is not supported as the
local database (see section Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition below).
The database that is installed on the Deployment Server will be the database propagated to Development Clients via the
package build and deployment process.

Oracle Database 11g R2 Enterprise Edition

Customer may choose to use Oracle Database 11g R2 Enterprise Edition as the local database for the Deployment Server if
they intend to standardize on Oracle technology or if they are concerned about exceeding the 4 GB data limit with Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 Express. Customers who choose to use Oracle Database 11g R2 Enterprise Edition should note the
minimum hardware recommendations in the "Hardware Requirements" section within this document.
If the deployment server is running on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 (64-bit), then Oracle Database 11g R2
Enterprise Edition is required as the local database. Oracle provides a specific installation program for this purpose. For
instructions on installing Oracle Database 11g R2 as the local database for the Deployment Server refer to Oracle Support
document: JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Release 9.0 Installation Guides, Update (Doc ID 705463.1)" Update 23:
Support of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. This applies to all Deployment Server and Development
Client Support for Microsoft Windows 7.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

Beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications 9.1 Microsoft SQL Server Express is not supported as the local
database. Refer to instructions on using Oracle Database 11g R2 Enterprise Edition as the local database.
Customers may choose to use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Editions as the local database for the deployment server
for continuity with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications releases prior to 9.1.
If the deployment server is running on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 (64-bit), then Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Express Service Pack 3 is required as the local database. Customers should download and install Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Express Service Pack 3 prior to installing the Deployment Server on Windows Server 2008 R2. For instructions on installing
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express SP3 as the local database for the Deployment Server refer to Oracle Support document:
