Single Drum Survey Wireline Unit
It has the option of a diesel/hydraulic or

electric/hydraulic power unit. The frame
incorporates forklift pockets in the base for
ground handling and a single point lifting
eye for crane handling. It is designed to be
lightweight yet robust and is particularly
suitable for applications where unit weight or
footprint size is restricted. The unit is fitted
with removable guards for ease of access
during routine maintenance. The open
console style allows the operator to
comfortably stand at the unit with all the
necessary controls clearly identified with
engraved stainless steel labels.

Double Drum Open Console Wireline Unit
This Double Drum Open Console Wireline Unit is designed for areas of operation where footprint is an issue. The unit is fitted with
two drums, the smaller upper drum for slickline and the larger lower drum for swabline operations.
Drum selection is by a simple gear lever

system on a splitter gearbox. This is done
instantly with no need to remove guards or
chains. It has the open loop hydraulic
system which is regarded as the best
system for all standard slickline or swabline
operations. Built to Zone 2 specifications for
use with a stand alone 75 HP diesel power
pack with option for a Zone 1 electric or
Rigsafe diesel unit.

Aluminium Lightweight Single Drum Wireline Unit
The versatile open loop hydraulic system in

conjunction with the 75hp powerpack option
provides excellent jarring characteristics and
higher line speeds than the mini unit,
making this unit ideal for heavy duty fishing
operations. The unit can be manufactured
with a four point lift frame or a single point
lift for heliportable applications. Powerpack
options include Rigsafe, Zone 1 or Zone 2

Dual Drum Split Wireline Unit

The new generation Elmar ATEX certified (Zone 2) split three piece wireline unit is suitable for dual slickline drums (up to 0.125),
slickline/swabline (up to 0.125/1/4) or a single 5/16 drum, this Elmar unit is a three piece modular construction.
This three piece split unit comprises of a separate power pack, operator
cabin and double drum winch modules. Each module is designed to be
individually lifted or all three can be joined for a single lift.
Designed for standalone operation the unit is completely self
contained with an integral 86hp diesel power pack (no external
power source required).

speed control while performing logging operations.

This Lightweight Zone 2 Logging System is designed for areas where lifting restrictions or footprint are a concern. The cabin
and power pack are constructed from aluminium.
Its modular design includes: -1) Logging

cabin with over-pressure system and air
conditioner -2) Logging winch controlled
from the main cabin -3) Diesel-hydraulic
power pack with air compressor -4)
Hydraulically driven generator skid. The
winch includes a closed loop hydraulic
system, which gives excellent slow speed
control. The unit can be moved around the
deck using the optional jacking castors and
the set-up can be operational within 45

Dual Drum Slickline/Braided Line Truck
This slickline/braided line winch truck is designed for both on/off road use and can be configured to a customer prefered chassis.
It is suitable for operations in desert conditions with high ambient temperatures.
The composite construction body is mounted

on an extruded aluminium base assembly
providing a lightweight and rigid structure.
The base assembly is a modular construction
allowing free choice of chassis and multiple
internal layout options. The truck has multiple
tool storage solutions, with under floor
lubricator storage, side and rear access for
tools and additional storage in the rear tool
step and body lockers. A vice with pipe jaws
is provided on the rear tool step for tool

Dual Drum Truck with Removable Slickline Container
The removable container is fitted with ISO

corner fittings to secure to the chassis and
with lifting eyes for positioning on the well
site or removal from the truck. This
arrangement allows maximum versatility
allowing operation as a conventional
wireline truck or use as an independent
wireline container.
The container is manufactured with a steel
perimeter frame and panelled with 80mm
insulated GRP and Styrofoam panels giving
excellent thermal and sound insulation. The
container features three compartments,
draw works, operator cabin and power pack.

Dual Drum Open and Cased Hole Logging Truck
The body is of a one piece 80mm GRP

and Styrene construction giving excellent
thermal insulation, with a welded steel
substructure rubber mounted to the truck
body. Tool storage is provided to the sides
of the winch bay and to the underside of the
truck. The rear step doubles as a tool
locker and has a position for a working vice

place the shipping drum, and the wire
tensioning head. The hydraulically driven
respooler arbour will accept all standard

Hydraulic tension is controlled from a control panel on

the side of the unit. The wire tension traverses freely
on sealed linear bearings and tensioning is by two
brake bands acting on the circumference of the
tensioning wheel. Braking is controlled by means of a
hand wheel in front of the tension head.
A spring loaded pressure wheel is positioned at the
top of the tensioner wheel to hold wire in place. A set
of guide rollers are set in front of the head which
function to keep the tensioner head in line with the
wire.

Tension is provided by Brake Bands on the tensioning

wheels and controlled by a built in hydraulic hand
pump acting on all four brake bands
This Spooling Unit is used for drawing old wire from a wireline unit and spooling new wire on under tension. For spooling on
new braided wire the unit must be used in conjunction with a braided wire tensioner unit.

The Wireline Spooling System is specifically designed for the spooling of wireline cables and can be used within wireline
company workshops.
Cable can be spooled both on and off most

wire drum sizes, ranging from monocable to
heptacable, or supplier transport drums. The
winch drive system is hydraulic with power
provided from a separate electro-hydraulic
power pack. Proprietary software allows
automatic spooling tension control to an
operator pre-set value.

The 5-500 type are the traditional post mounted heads and can be set up for imperial or metric
measurement of all wire and cable sizes up to 7/32. All 5-600 type heads are lightweight and
have the ability to mount encoders for electronic read-out of line speed, depth and tension
when combined with the Winchmans Control Panel. Both head types are mounted on a
parallelogram traverse and have the ability to float with the wire due to a gas strut counter
balance system.

Measuring Head Systems (7000 Series)
The 7000 Series is a new generation of measuring head providing the capacity to measure two wire sizes on a dual drum winch
skid whilst providing electronic redundancy and improved sensitivity when using dual range gauges.
Full electronic and mechanical

outputs for depth and tension
measurements provide true
redundancy and back up. The
head can accept all slickline and
braided line wire sizes from 0.082
to 1/4. Wire can be removed from
the head with the rope socket
attached to allow maximum
efficiency on the well site.
Two load measurement positions
are provided and used in
conjunction with a dual range
weight indicator gauge. This gives
a 0-3500lbs range for increased
sensitivity on slickline operations
and a 0-5000lbs range for
swabline on the same gauge.
Elmar winch skid with measuring head
An encoder provides electronic
depth and speed measurement, mechanical output is provided by a gearbox and
angle drive fitted to both measuring wheels. Load measurement is by hydraulic load
cell with additional load pin if electronic redundancy is required.
Outputs can be configured for metric or imperial display.

MEASURING HEAD SYSTEMS (9000 SERIES)

The 9000 Series Measuring Head is a
straight-through type, suitable for all sizes of
braided cable. The head can provide
combinations of electronic or mechanical
read-outs. The measuring wheels are
spring-loaded to ensure they stay in contact
with the cable at all times. The braided line
is held in position by guide rollers to the
front and rear of the unit.

This Elmar approved Measuring Head is designed to measure both wireline depth and tension. It is suitable for use with
wireline cables from 0.190 to 0.484. The head is suitable for use on open and cased holes.

Weight Indicator, Wireline Ductility Tester

and Mechanical Depth Measurement
All Wireline units can be supplied with weight indicator and depth measurement systems.
Standard weight indicator systems are supplied with a hydraulic load cell, 100 feet of hydraulic
hose and a weight indicator gauge calibrated in pounds or kilos.
A pressure sensor can be supplied in order that the system can be used with the Winchmans
Control Panel, which will give electronic read out and recording of tension. Depth measurement
is by a five digit mechanical counter which is mounted to the operators control console and
connected to the measuring head by a cable of the appropriate length.
The selection of the wheel size and the angle drive option gives accurate measurement in feet
or meters.

WEIGHT INDICATOR SYSTEM:
Weight Indicator systems are hydraulically
operated and require no external power
source. They are assembled and fully
charged with hydraulic fluid when fitted to
the wireline unit. Full scale capacity ranges
are from 1,000lbs to 6,000lbs or from
1.000kgs to 3,000kgs. The indicator
provides a dial face calibrated in lbs or kilos
and has a dampener to smooth pointer
sensitivity. Also included is a dial adjust gear
which rotates the dial to make the
necessary tare adjustments. The load cell
transmits a hydraulic pressure signal
through a diaphragm sensing element held
in place by the load cell housing. Hose
lengths supplied to suit the customer
requirements.

WIRELINE DUCTILITY TESTER:

The combined effect of operating slickline
under high tensile stress and bending
fatigue, often in corrosive-high temperature
environments, impairs the ductility of the
wire. Regular ductility tests of a wireline help
to monitor its condition and avoid costly
failures in the well. The wireline ductility
tester provides a mean to test both carbon
steel and stainless wirelines, efficiently and
reliably.

MECHANICAL DEPTH MEASUREMENT SYSTEM:

Depth Measurement is catered for by a (5)
digit mechanical counter mounted on the
operators control console. This is attached
to the Measuring Head via a right angle
drive* and counter cables of various
lengths.
For carbon steel lines a torsion test is used.

This is particularly useful when operating
with API9A wirelines exposed to low levels
of H2S.
For stainless and special alloys lines a
torsion test is not representative. The
ductility tester uses a simple wrap test.
The wire is considered fit for purpose when
it survives a specific number of 360 wraps
(depending on line size) without fracture or
signs of surface cracks.

FLEXIBILITY:
The winchman's panel is an adaptable system which
can be built to your custom requirements. Magnetic
mark detection can be incorporated into the system
