HOW and WHY IT ALL STARTED

the Vancouver Camaro
Group, a local group with a
no dues policy that would
keep the car community informed of local shows and
cruises, something I felt was
lacking from other car clubs.
Vancouver Camaro Club.
Circa 1983 Brentwood Mall

Ill have to be honest here,

after following the PNWCC
Facebook page and seeing
how their members interacted, posted pictures of
events and participated in
activities as a club, I wanted
to be a part of it. Being that
they were in Washington
State, a 3 hour drive for me,
it would not be feasible for
me to participate in any of
their events. I decided to
start my own Facebook page
on February 14th, calling it

During the summer of 2015,

Mike Price and I had spent a
lot of weekends going to
car shows, cruising and talking to others about their cars.
Given that Mike is a great
communicator, a knowledgeable car guy and very
fun to be around, it was a
real advantage to have him
working with me to get this
group going. Adding him as
an administrator was the
next logical step. The group
was off and running..

VCG MEMBER BOB MORAN DISSAPEARS AT POCO SHOW

With the ever threatening chance of rain, six
members from the VCG
made their way to the
POCO car show. Parking
was organized by Bob
Moran a long time participant of the show.
With everything running

smoothly and everyone

having a good time, the
first few drops of rain
fell around 1:30 and
faster than Mike Price
posting a Happening
Now post, Bob and
Camaro were gone.
Witnesses say they saw

a parking attendant and

a wooden blockade flying through the air and
Bob`s car disappearing
through the side streets
of PoCo. All that was left
was a broken chair and
an empty parking spot.
Where was BOB?

DW POPPY CAR SHOW

Vic Goertzen and Vincent

Huber at the DW Poppy
Car Show.

The first car show of the

year was held at DW Poppy
High School. This was also my
first time at this show. The
weather was perfect as Brad
Sutton, driving his beautiful
convertible Olds 442 and I
left North Vancouver at 6:45
am. We arrived to a small
line of assorted hot rods,
muscle cars and wild pick-up
trucks waiting for the gates to
open at 8:00. Over 750
cars made their way onto the
freshly cut grass of the
schools football fields and

were guided into neat rows.

After putting the final touches
on our cars we started to
make our way around this
giant display. I bumped into
many friends that I have not
seen since last car show season and it was great to catch
up with them.
This car show was a great
start to the cruise and car
show season and I am sure
we are all looking forward to
next years event.

PNWCC ALL CAMARO SHOW at XXX DRIVE-IN

INSIDE THE XXX DRIVE-IN

JULY 17

With the month of June becoming a washout for car

events, I was looking forward
to this show and a road trip
down to Issaquah Wash. Under overcast skies , six group
members made our way
down to the XXX Drive-In
restaurant. The XXX is like a
museum of posters, pictures,
car parts and tons of memorabilia which fill the walls

and ceiling. Outside there

are giant tables shaped like
root-beer barrels that seat
about 20 people. I talked to
Maggie from the PNWCC
and she was very happy to
see us Canadians down for
the show. We made our way
around the grounds of over
250 Camaros, stopping to
talk to the owners and other
enthusiasts. It was a fun day

HARD ROCK CASINO CAR SHOW

This was our third car show
as a group. We all met at
the Tim Hortons on United
Blvd. and cruised in together.
This was when Mike first took

CAMAROS and FRIENDS CRUISE TO SQUAMISH AUG 6
Our first Cruise. Twelve
members and friends met at
the Holiday Inn in North Vancouver at 9:30 am Sunday
morning. Cruising along Hwy
#1, our first destination was
the little E-85 Gas Station in
West Van ,where we
stopped for coffee and pictures in front of the old style
gas pumps. We then headed
west along the scenic low
road to the Britannia Mine.
There was a movie being shot
in the main parking lot so we

parked on the side street

with the mine in the background. We took this opportunity to take a few more
pictures and then we were
off to our final

destination the Howe Sound

Brewing Company for lunch.
We were seated outside on
the patio and were offered
blankets as it was quite
windy that afternoon. More
pictures were taken as we
fought the wind from blowing
the menus out of our hands.
The food and the service was
great and the jokes and stories of route 66 were entertaining. A great time was had
by all . Another cruise is
planned for next year.

DUECK ON MARINE CAR SHOW

The Dueck car show is another great event, not just
because it is free and local
but the free poster-size pictures each participant receives of their car is a cool
bonus. 15 group members
met early Sunday morning at
the Superstore where Lynn
Goertzen took a video of us
rolling into the show. Three
of our members received

awards that day, Vic Goertzen, in his second gen

modified Camaro, Sandra
Walton with her third gen
Pace Car, and Jenny Cat Doll
with one of her beautiful
Corvettes. Coffee and
doughnuts in the am and a
BBQ by donation for the afternoon. Our group will be
back next year and yes one
reason is for the free posters.

ABBOTSFORD CAR SHOW

Vic Goertzen and Mike Klein
helped organize this event.
12 cars met well off the strip
in Langley and with Lynns
Ipad rolling ,we cruised down
the back streets to downtown
Abbotsford. We all had a
great day together and the
free Tee shirts and burgers
was an added bonus.

AUG 20 HARBOURSIDE CAR SHOW

This show hosted the Jack
Mancini award. Jacks attendance at every event this
summer was outstanding, so
we gave him an award for it.
Jack was a good sport about
it and we want to thank him
for his support for all of our
events too!!
Thanks Jack.

LANGLEY CRUISE IN. 50 YEARS OF THE CAMARO

SEPT 10

The turnout for our group display of 50 Camaros at the Langley Cruise-In went well beyond our wildest dreams. Mike Price took
on the job of organizing this event and I must say, pulled off the best show of the VCG year! He designed the posters and TShirts to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Camaro and Firebird, which each participant received, and also was the group
parking attendant. (Where was Jack Mancini when we needed him?) From the cruise starting point at the Tim Horton's on 200th
St, to the Value Village, the site of 50 F body cars rolling along in a very long line was a sight I will not soon forget. The
weather held up , the In and Out Burgers were tasty (Thanks Lynn G for standing in line) and a great time was had by all. Thanks
to all who participated in the display and a BIG thanks to Mike for his efforts to make this day a special one for the VCG.

Camaro Anniversary Shirts FALL WINDUP PARTY &

Goodbye to the Goertzens

There are still has a few shirts in

assorted sizes so let Eric or Mike
know if you want one. Designs

hats and shirt for next year.
Please let me know if you have
any events that you would like us
to plan for next year.

VCG member Doug Thompson

hosted our Fall Wrap-up BBQ
at his HUGE house in Langley.
With plenty of pot luck items
brought by 30 of the members
and my wife Wendy as the
cook, I handed out the poster
size pictures from the Dueck
show as the rest of the gang
Face timed with Mike Price
down in Palm Springs. We
also bid farewell to Vic and
his wife Lynn who are moving
back to their stomping grounds
of Quesnel. We will miss them
and wish them well.
Thank you Doug and Donna
for hosting the party and we
hope we can come back again
next summer.

BOB MORAN found

These are some of the events

we will be going forward
with in the New Year. Hope
to see you there!

With great relief and a whole

lot of laughs, Bob Moran was
found. Yes, we found him sitting at home with his 69
Camaro hidden in his garage.
Little did he know that he had
won an award that afternoon
and after a quick text from
Vic G. he returned to pick up
his award. Well done Bob!
