How did you find this source?: My Capstone teachers recommended this book for my
topic and I founded it in the library.
Intended audience: This book is meant for anyone. The authors want the readers
interested to become educated global citizens.
What arguments/topics does this source discuss?: In chapter four, A Path Appears
explains the changes that should happen in the public opinion towards charity, NGOs or
non-profits. First the public incentives for donations is unfair for initiative leaders and
charity workers. Overall, people expects charity workers to perform skilled tasks on low
wages that dont match the amount of work they do. This has caused the decline of
enthusiasm for humanitarian work as responsibilities grow with age. The public views
also limits charity performance. Many considers marketing, computer data programs, and
other fundings that doesn't go directly to the recipients a waste of money. Overhead
budget often help create more impact. Another major issue is the inability of charity
organizations to acknowledge and risk failure in fear of antagonizing donors.
Minimum 3 quotes, paraphrases, summaries of source text that seem likely to be
helpful in future writing:
Our uncompetitive salaries make it almost impossible for people to develop real
careers; our under-investment in staff development hampers performance; and our
creaky knowledge management and information systems undermine potential
results.

While shareholders reward corporations for taking smart and profitable risks,
donors punish nonprofits for deviating from the norm.
Of all the money donated in america, only about one third goes to the needy.
And the top 200 universities getting much of educational philanthropy, only 15%
of students come from the bottom half of the income distribution.
