Home Learning

Reading

Home Learning is explained and given out each

Thursday and is due back the following Tuesday.
It is vital that Home Learning is completed each
week and returned promptly. Home Learning
supports and consolidates what is being taught
in class. Ms Woodcock runs a Home work club
on a Thursday where the children can be
supported to complete their Home Learning.

Please ensure that your child brings their

reading book and record into school every day.
Your child can change their reading book when
needed and we will record when we have
heard them read. We ask parents to do the
same as this will enable children to earn stamps
towards the reading raccoon awards. We
strongly encourage you to hear your child read
on a daily basis, this makes such a difference to
their speed of progress in reading. Also in Year 2
a key focus is in developing childrens reading
stamina and comprehension skills. Asking them
questions about what they have read will
ensure that they have secure understanding.

Year 2 Curriculum

childs lunchbox.

Help from Parents/Carers

At Iver Village Infant School we really
appreciate any free time you may have to help
in school, whether it is hearing children read or
using your arty skills to help with displays. We
would really appreciate your help. Please let
your Class Teacher know.

PE
In Year 2 the children will have their PE lessons
on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Please
ensure your child has their PE kit and that each
item of clothing is clearly labelled. It is essential
that children have their full kit each week to be
able to fully partake in lessons.

Forest School
In Year 2 we are excited to introduce Forest
School sessions beginning this term. These
sessions will provide lots of outdoor learning
activities and develop childrens problem
solving skills.
The sessions will start with Oak class and will
have 15 children at a time. It is vital that children
bring in the correct clothing in order to be able
to take part in these exciting outdoor sessions.
If you have any queries please contact Miss
Styles.
