DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this tutorial is to show how to set up and run a Moving-Deforming Mesh (MDM) case
using ANSYS Fluent on a generic 2D store separation case. Pressure based coupled solver from Fluent
with SST-, and smoothing and remeshing MDM algorithms have been employed in this demo.
An object is dropped from a moving airplane flying at Mach 0.8. As the object falls it experiences a
pressure force, a viscous force and the gravitational force. These forces also create a moment on the
object, causing it to rotate about its C.G. In this tutorial the trajectory of the moving body is calculated
via a UDF that takes into account the pressure, viscous and gravitational forces; the computed trajectory
drives the motion of the dynamic mesh.
INSTRUCTIONS
Follow the step-by-step instructions from the TUTORIAL_Store_Separation_2d.pdf document
to cover this demo. You will require the following files: the mesh file
store_separation_2D.msh.gz and the User Defined Function file store.c.
In order to run this example in steady state the case file (provided):
1.
2.
3.
4.
Load the file store_separation_2d_ss.cas.gz. You will use the saved settings.
Perform standard initialization starting from inflow boundary zone.
Run calculation for 500 iterations
Save the data file with the name store_separation_2d_ss_user.dat.gz.
