Positive Effects of Immigration on The United States of America
Much controversy follows the topic of mass immigration to the United States of America, a
nation forged by immigrants and on the foundation of created a home for them. After deep
analysis of articles my experts on the topic of mass immigration one could safely dispute that the
United States has much to gain in accepting mass immigration. This essay will educate you in
regards to the benefits that go hand-in-hand with mass immigration and those who prosper by it.

When thinking of mass immigration many people think of refugees, some might even imagine
people seeking to thrive in one of the best economical countries. The fact is that this does not
begin to cover all of the people who come to enjoy the benefits of residency in The United
States. In fact, in turning down mass immigration one also turns down, entrepreneurs, corporate
executives, researchers, and an educated class of people who could start companies, which would
boost the amount of jobs in the United States. The article, Accept Victory on Immigration; Now
is the time to act: The U.S. is losing the global competition for the best and brightest., by L.
Gordon Crovitz says This sacrifice of skilled immigrants was even supported by Rep. Zoe
Lofgren, a Democrat who represents Silicon Valley, where in recent years half of all startups
have had a foreign-born founder. In short, what this is saying is that many foreign- born
founders of blossoming companies are producing half of all startup companies in Silicon Valley
alone. If you analysis this further, this here is proof that immigration is bringing in entrepreneurs
who could start companies and supply jobs in their cities and towns. A consequence of having

startup companies would be economic stability or even prosperity. Another thing that
immigrants bring to the table is tax money. A commonly misunderstood myth is that immigrants
do not pay taxes and therefore do not contribute to the US economy. Ramanujan Nadadur, author
of Illegal Immigration: A Positive Economic Contribution to the United States, makes it known
that although not much is paid in taxes due to the percentage of their paychecks they do pay
taxes. Though further research is needed in this area, it would appear from the limited studies
that illegal immigrants do make tax contributions while using public services. In this quote
Nadadur tries to explain that with the limited information on taxes that are paid by illegal
immigrants one could infer that the illegal immigrants in the country are carrying their own
weight by paying their fair share of taxes per fiscal year,

Another aspect of mass immigration that should be inspected would be the effect of immigration
on the communities immigrants settle in. According to Dont shut the Golden Door by John M.
MacDonald and Robert J. Sampson of The New York Times, social scientist have found that
immigrant communities in New York were less cynical than people living in less diverse
communities, therefore more to cooperate with police. This scientifically proven data proves that
although crime is still existent it would be the immigrants that would be more willing to
cooperate with the police under the circumstances in which police would be involved. This is
beneficial to communities for many reasons, one of which is that police have been seen as threats

to communities lately because of abuse of power, causing retaliation on the part of the citizens.
However, if we have citizens who comply with the authority of the police, the police will not
have a reason to abuse the authority or believe they need to use the authority to impose physical
restraints. John M. MacDonald and Robert J. Sampson, of The New York Times, have also noted
that, immigrant youths in Los Angeles were involved in less crime and violence than their
native-born peers in similar circumstances. In communities around the country is it crucial to
the youth that they have peers that have a strong sense of reason in order to help them form their
own sense of right and wrong. Countless studies have shown that children and teens are easily
persuaded into doing things by peers. We see this regularly, for example, high school students
doing drugs because they see their friends doing it. Sometime, however we do not see the flip
side of the coin, or what happens when these same children see people doing good actions, for
example staying away from drugs or being scholarly at school. Immigrant youths have the
potential to be that example for their youths since they are already less involved in criminal
activity than their native peers. Dont Shut the Golden Door also states that America is neither
less safe because of immigration nor is it worse off economically. In fact, in the regions where
immigrants have settled in the past two decades, crime has gone down, cities have grown, poor
urban neighborhoods have been rebuilt, and small towns that were once on life support are
springing back. This clearly states that the United States thrives with the help of mass

immigration. From this data you could conclude that communities benefit from mass
immigration spanning from the youth to police compliance.
In hopes to disregard the positive effects of the immigration on the United Sates many people
might make claims about taxes jobs in which immigrants are draining resources from the
citizens. Such claims would be that immigrants do not pay taxes and are still enjoying public
services such as public schooling. This statement, however, is not correct because of the facts
found in the article Illegal Immigration: A Positive Economic Contribution to the United States
by Ramanujan Nadadur stating that there are statistics found in data which supports the fact that
immigration does carry its own weight in taxes. This is a common misconception because
immigrants are paid less, which in turn means that they pay less in taxes. Nevertheless, that does
not mean that they do not pay taxes. Another counter claim that could be made against accepting
mass immigration would be that immigrants are taking the jobs of those already living here. This
is again an untruthful statement because mass immigration not only bring entrepreneurs which
create jobs, but they take job offers in positions in which the current citizens do not want to take.
This is also stated by Ramanujan Nadadur who explains in depth just how much the United
States benefits from mass immigration.
In short, there are many benefits that come along with mass immigration when then step foot into
this country. These benefits include bettering communities, providing economic support every

fiscal year. Many will try to discredit those who are for immigration, however after deeper
analysis we can conclude that those are common misconceptions that are being used to persuade
people against it.
