What is an R&D project in Polish granting?

Through R&D projects, enterprises can research new or improved projects, services, processes or work
systems.
Industrial research are activities as a result of which you acquire knowledge and skills. It should be
subsequently used to develop the prototypes of new or improved products, processes or services. As a part of
industrial research, you can pursue pilot research.
As a result of experimental research, your employees acquire knowledge or skills in the fields of science,
technology and business and subsequently use them to develop new or improved products, services or
processes. The results of such research includes conceptually defined new or improved products, services or
processes. It is not possible to obtain grants for routine or periodical modifications to your products, even if
such modifications can be considered an improvement.
An important role in a research project is played by the Technology Readiness Level, or the technological
maturity of the project. Only the concepts at TRL of no lower than 2, which means technology concept and
future application formulated, can qualify for a grant.

Implementation of R&D to business environment

In commercialisation projects, it is not important whether the R&D has been performed in-house or by
an external research institution. What is important is that the results of the R&D have been crucial to
the development or improvement of the product, service or process.
The key document needs to specify that the R&D has already been performed. The evaluation will be affected by
how the results are included in the company's assets and how the intellectual property rights have been
protected.
The results of research and development can be implemented, among others, through:

the establishment of new production facility,

improvements to the production capacity of an existing facility,

production diversification through the introduction of new products that have never been produced in
that facility,

a substantial modification to the production process at an existing facility.

In commercialisation projects, one should always keep in mind the innovativeness of the product.

What can be granted under R&D grants?

In most qualifications, the amount of the grant is linked with eligible costs. Those are costs that are
directly related to the implementation of the project that determine the project's value and the amount

of R&D, technical and auxiliary staff,
