The Great Day of Jehovah is set on the Divine Calendar (4min)

We are here to talk about an important day.

Individuals like to commemorate important days like anniversaries
Nations memorialize historical milestones such as the birthday or independence of a country
However, there is another "day" we need to be aware of.
It is firmly fixed on the Divine Calendar. Yet this day is in the future, and it will affect every
individual on this planet and change the course of human history forever. The Bible describes this
important period in human experience as "the great fear-inspiring day of Jehovah" This is an event
that we want to keep close in mind.
(Turn to Joe 2:30, 31)
Read (Joel 2:30-31) And I will give portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.

The sun itself will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and fear-inspiring
day of Jehovah.

During that day, Jehovah will act against his enemies and in behalf of his people. This will occur
during "the presence of the Son of man," but the exact "day and hour" are unknown to humans.

Read and keep place (Matthew 24:36-39) Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the
heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be.

For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the
presence of the Son of man will be.
(Matthew 24:44) On this account YOU too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think to be it, the
Son of man is coming.
We do not know when that Day will
knew when it would be.

So can you see why we need to keep this day Close in mind? Did you notice in verse

38 that those who

were living an ordinary life would be caught off guard when that day would come? In this case the
bible did not say that all the people were incorrigibly Evil did it? It says they took no note. It is similar to when
people are told that there is going to be a hurricane and instead of taking the warning they say we are going to
have a hurricane party. Those Preflood people were being

warned by God and they still took no note. So not

only does our conduct tell God about us but it is also how we listen to his warnings that tells him a lot
about our attitude.

So let us consider some evidence that shows that we are now living during Christ's presence and the
approach of Gods fear inspiriting Great day

EVENTS THAT MAKE UP THE SIGN OF CHRIST'S PRESENCE

Jesus foretold that during his presence, there would be global conflicts and other notable
developments (Mt. 24:3,7,8; w08 10/1 6-7)

(Matthew 24:3) While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: Tell us,
When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?
(Matthew 24:7-8) For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and
earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

Have we seen the wars the wars Jesus referred to?

It all started with World War I. As implied by its name it was the first time the
war. This was in 1914 CE

In WWI half of the 65 million soldiers that were mobilized either died or were wounded. Yet, as the 20th century
progressed, the carnage expanded. In the words of one historian, the military and civilian dead of World War II would be
forever uncountable. And the wars continue even now.

Conditions in the past 100 years have been worse than ever, and they continue to deteriorate. For example, the
Worldwatch Institute reports: Three times as many people fell victim to war in [the 20th] century as in all the wars from the
first century AD to 1899
The advent of modern weapons of mass destruction have made all this possible.

Food Shortages

In 2005, Science magazine stated: There are 854 million people in the world (about 14% of our population) who are
chronically or acutely malnourished. In 2007, a United Nations source reported that 33 countries lack sufficient food to
feed their people. When world grain production is on the rise, how can this be? For one thing, land and grain that could be
used to feed people are used to produce ethanol instead.
A paper in South African put it this way. The amount of ethanol needed to fill a big four-wheel-drive SUV just
once uses enough grain to feed one person for an entire year.
So man is not solving this problem are they?
How about Earth Quakes
Observed Indian seismologist R. K. ChAdha in 2007. Suddenly we are seeing a spurt in seismic activity globally and
Nobody knows why. Moreover, rapid population growth in areas prone to earthquakes has increased the toll of these
disasters. The earthquake that struck the Indian Ocean in 2004 and the tsunami that followed made that year the
deadliest in nearly 500 years for earthquakes and the second most fatal in recorded history, according to the U.S.
Geological Survey. Both Indonesia and Japan Mag 8.9

What else tells us we are living the During Christ Presents or the last days?
(Mt. 24:11) False Prophets: Misleading religious elements would appear on the scene
(Matthew 24:11) And many false prophets will arise and mislead many;
So have we seen these false prophets and if we have what has been their fruitage (w94 3/1 9-11, pars. 7-12)
Instead of teaching the bible there is an appalling Bible illiteracy among churchgoers because their ministers feed them
worldly philosophies and how politics is affecting their world. They have provided no comfort for people or hope for the
future of their flocks.
Instead of teaching moral

excellence as a goal.

There is a deafening silence as to the need for morality.

Instead of advocating The Price of Peace. They are actively supporting the wars of their respective nations.
Instead of looking to Gods Kingdom as the hope of mankind. The clergy teach that mans only hope

peace and security today is the United Nations.

Lawlessness and crime would be on the increase (Mt 24:12)

(Matthew 24:12) and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.
(((Turn to 2 Tim 3:1-5))) while we talk a minute.
That person walking down the road, are you going to pick him up. The result has been fear and insecurity.
IN ---2 Tim 3:1-5 Paul told us what peoples attitude would be in the last days He said they would be "critical
times hard to deal with" If you want a snapshot into todays society you can read those verses and see how
people would be behaving.
(consider appropriate points from 2 Tim 3:1-5, 13)

(2 Timothy 3:1-5) haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not
open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control,

having a form of godly devotion but proving

false to its power; and from these turn away.

(2 Timothy 3:13) But wicked men and impostors will advance from bad to worse, misleading and being misled.
So you have the ones misleading people and they in turn are being misled. So the question we need to ask
is

By whom are they "being misled"? ( Read Rev 12:9)

Read (Revelation 12:9) So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who
is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Satan is influencing all those who yield to the spirit of this world (1 Jo 5:19)
(1 John 5:19) the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

That Adversary of God and man has but a short time to continue his evil, vicious activities (Rev 12:12)
Read (Revelation 12:12) On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for
the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.
So Satans time is limited

So the Available evidence points to the nearness of Jehovah's great and fear-inspiring day for
executing his judgments
Jehovah has mercifully arranged for warning of that day to be given worldwide Read (Re 14:6,7)
Read (Revelation 14:6-7) And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, and he had everlasting good news to declare as
glad tidings to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people, 7 saying in a loud voice:
FEAR God and give him glory, because the hour of the judgment by him has arrived, and so worship the One who made
the heaven and the earth and sea and fountains of waters.
But unfortunately Many pay no heed, just as in pre-Flood world
So the masses today are living only for today. But how about us?

We should have a sense of urgency about worsening world conditions and what they will lead to.

WHY IS IT URGENT AND WISE TO KEEP THAT DAY IN MIND (11 min)

In order to understand that better let us get a little additional background. We will discuss for a moment
WHY this world system has got to be destroyed and HOW its destruction will happen.
THE present wicked system of things is founded on the fundamental lie that man can successfully rule the earth
independent of Jehovah. (Ps. 2:2, 3) Can anything founded on falsehood stand forever? Absolutely not! Still, we do not
have to wait for Satans world to end of its own accord. We are not going to see Satans world slowly grind all the
way into the ground.
Rather, it will be destroyed by God at his appointed time and in his way. Gods action against this wicked world
will perfectly reflect both his justice and his love .Ps. 92:7; Prov. 2:21, 22.
So you have the WHY. Im sure we could think of many more reasons. Now lets get to the HOW.

The Words recorded at (Read and discuss) 2 Peter 3:10-13 are of particular interest (w10 7/15 3-5 pars.
1-11)
(2 Peter 3:10-13) Yet Jehovahs day will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a hissing noise, but the
elements being intensely hot will be dissolved, and earth and the works in it will be discovered. 11 Since all these things
are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought YOU to be in holy acts of conduct and deeds of godly devotion,

awaiting and keeping close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah, through which [the] heavens being on fire will
be dissolved and [the] elements being intensely hot will melt! 13 But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are
awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.

Global devastation of present system of things will occur (The World of mankind)
Elements will dissolve in the fiery destruction of present Rulership and Society The symbolic
heavens and earth. The bible describes the system passing away with a hissing noise. (Like a bond
fire)This is how this system will go.

But how are we to understand the end of verse 10 What did Peter mean when he wrote that earth and

the works in will be discovered? The word discovered can also be rendered found out or laid bare. Is
what the footnote of the NKJV says.
Peter meant that during the great tribulation, Jehovah will lay bare Satans entire world, exposing it as being
against Him and His Kingdom and thus deserving of destruction. Speaking prophetically of that time, Isaiah 26:21 reads:
Jehovah is coming forth from his place to call to account the error of the inhabitant of the land against him, and the land
will certainly expose her bloodshed and will no longer cover over her killed ones.
Im sure the nations today have many killed ones neatly swept under their carpet. Not for much longer.
During Jehovahs day, those who have been molded by the world and its evil spirit will display their true nature,
even slaughtering one another. In fact, it could well be that the numerous forms of violent entertainment popular today
are conditioning the minds of many for the time when each mans hand will actually come up against the hand of his
companion. (Zech. 14:13) How important, then, that we reject anything movies, books, video games, and so on

that may engender within us traits that are detestable to God, such as pride and the love of violence!
(2 Sam. 22:28; Ps. 11:5) Rather, let us cultivate the fruitage of Gods holy spirit, for such qualities will prove to be
incombustible when the figurative heat is on.

So let us keep "close in mind ... the day of Jehovah" WHICH means to be keenly aware of what that day
will mean for us individually and for mankind in general
True Christians have prospect of surviving that day and never dieing. How many people in history have
shared that prospect? We will discuss that a little more later.

So we must be watchful, for those

not awake to the sign of the times, this day will come "as a thief"

So Peter exhorts us to engage in "holy acts of conduct" and to perform "deeds of godly devotion
These things work together. How can we learn to perform these acceptably?
We need to break down what we can do into 3 separate groups of things that will help us.
(1) Cultivate godly qualities,
1 For example, it takes effort to attend all Christian meetings, to read the Bible daily, and to maintain a good personal study program.
And to have a regular, enjoyable, and meaningful Family Worship evening. It may require hard work along with good planning.

(2) remain morally and spiritually spotless and unblemished,

Satan tries to scare us or corrupt us. As Luke13:24 we have to exert

ourselves vigorously to protect out

hearts and keep busy in Jehovahs work. We can not be complacent about it.
And we can hope to succeed only if we

turn to Jehovah, who generously gives Holy Spirit to help us.

Recap--- Exert ourselves vigorously-- Work hard at it and Keep busy.

(3) Have the right view of trials.
Consider the example of Jacobs son Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his own brothers. Later, he was
falsely accused of attempted rape and was imprisoned. Joseph was there for years. (No good deed goes
unpunished) did Josephs faith crumble as a result of this injustice and cruelty? Did he become embittered
against God for allowing evil to befall him(Why ME)? Gods Word clearly answers no! He never
wavered in his godly devotion. (Gen. 39:9-21) Rather, he let trials strengthen him, and for this he was richly
rewarded.
How was he rewarded? And Why would his trials better prepare him for his future? To make a long story
short Joseph was made second only to Pharaoh in all of Egypt. And when a 7 year famine struck God used him
to save the lives of many people including his own family. Can you see how his trials might have prepared him
for such and important task? Can you see the

rewards he was given for his faithfulness?

Think about that when we Read (Jas. 1:2,3)Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you meet with various trials, knowing
as you do that this tested quality of your faith works out endurance. Verse 4 tells us If we are trained this way we will
be sound in all respects, not lacking in anything.
So having a proper view of trials is very important and never forget that we need to meet these trials with Jahs help.
And remember that no trial lasts forever. What is more, in the earthly Paradise to come, Gods Kingdom
under Christ will undo all the harm caused by Satan and his wicked world. The former things will not be called
to mind; neither will they come up into the heart.

This brings us to a few concluding thoughts .

KEEPING JEHOVAH'S DAY CLOSE IN MIND WILL BRING BLESSINGS (4

min)

(Look up and keep place --2 Peter 3:14) As we talked about earlier our hope is concealed in the day of
Jehovah's anger," and to be protected by him. To do that we have to be found acceptable to him.
[Read 2 Peter 3:14] Hence, beloved ones, since YOU are awaiting these things, do YOUR utmost to be found finally
by him spotless and unblemished and in peace.

Keep your finger in 2 Peter 3 and Look up (Zep 2:2,3)

This scripture helps up to know we should not wait until the last minute to seek Gods approval.
(Zephaniah 2:2,3) Before [the] statute gives birth to [anything], [before the] day has passed by just like chaff, before there
comes upon YOU people the burning anger of Jehovah, before there comes upon YOU the day of Jehovahs anger,

seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek
meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovahs anger. Remember this has to be done before the
end comes. We can not wait to prepare our minds and hearts until the Great Tribulation begins.

Does someone arrive at weight lifting competition without ever lifting weights?
Your and astronaut and land on the moon right? You get out and start running around on the lunar surface. You
never did that before. You weigh less then you do on earth so you jump around and have a good time. The word
come to you that you need to return to the lander to return home. You ignore the return warning. You hear the
warning again but you are still having fun. The third time you may be a little annoyed and are a little tired of being
nagged.
Now keep in mind the Lander has to get back to the return module or it will miss its opportunity or window to
return home. So they start to leave without you and fire the engines. You are close enough that you run and grab
onto the outside of the Lander and that seems to be working for you at first. Until you have to enter the earth
atmosphere. Then what happens. You have to be inside the capsule or you get burned off. Do you see the point?

Having advance knowledge of Jehovah's day, we should be motivated to enter into and maintain a
favorable relationship with God and to be faithful and steadfast in his service Read (2 Pe 3:17)
Read (2 Peter 3:17) YOU, therefore, beloved ones, having this advance knowledge, be on YOUR guard that YOU may
not be led away with them by the error of the law-defying people and fall from YOUR own steadfastness. 18 No, but go on
growing in the undeserved kindness and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him [be] the glory both now
and to the day of eternity.

And further let me ADD the words at (1

John 2:17) IT Says Furthermore, the world is passing away and

so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.

SO Doing God's will now holds out hope of "remaining forever," and of surviving the never-tobe-forgotten day of Jehovah.
