Course Materials: Textbook (Calculus, 4th Edition by Stewart), pencil, and paper. A
graphing calculator is required (TI-89, TI-92, or any other graphing calculator).
Maple, a computer program, will be used in class and on some homework
assignments.

Prerequisites: MTH 253 and prerequisite requirements.

Course Description: Includes multivariate and vector-valued functions from a
graphical, numerical, and symbolic perspective. Applies integration and
differentiation of both types of functions to solve real world problems. Graphing
calculator required. TI-89 Titanium or Casio Classpad 330 recommended.

Cumulative final exam

Attendance: To be successful, students should attend all class sessions. Students
who miss a class session are responsible for the information and materials they
missed. It is recommended that students who missed classes get some help from the
tutoring services in the Student Learning Center (Building 7, Room 218A).

Homework: Homework will be assigned weekly and will be due each Wednesday.
Late homework will receive at most 80% of the maximum potential grade. Graphs
must be done on graph paper or printed from a computer.

Project: There will be one group project given during the term. Details will be given
in class.

Exams: There will be 2 in-class midterm exams and one final exam. The final exam is
cumulative.

Making up exams: You may not make up a missed exam unless you have informed
me prior to the exam and have a good reason.

Cell phones: All cell phones and pagers should be turned off while class is in session.
If you feel you have special circumstances and need to leave your phone or pager on,
it must be turned to vibrate or silent. If there is an emergency situation and you
must use your phone during class time, please leave the classroom before accepting
and/or conducting your call.
