THE MYSTERY
OF THE AMERICAS
by Dennis B. Ardinger
For several centuries the origin and migration routes of the Ameri-
can Indians have intrigued scientists. The current theory is that early
nomadic hunting tribes crossed into Alaska from Siberia during the last
Ice Age around 10,000 years ago. This area, geologists tell us, was
dry land at that time because so much water was locked on the con-
tinents in the form of ice. These early hunters, following no known
road to a new home but merely tracking wandering herds of game
animals, eventually populated the entire North and South American
continents, The time span between the initial arrivals in the north to
the first settlements made in southern South America are not very
definite but are generally agreed to have taken several thousand years.
However, differences between Indian tribes are often found to be
greater than the northern diffusion theory can explain, Usually the
Indians are thought to be of a common race although they vary in
language quite extensively. There are more than five hundred Indian
languages in North America alone. Comparing them in some instances
is like comparing Chinese with English. Socially, the Indians vary
from wandering families of scavengers to tribes with elaborate class
structures.
Perhaps the answer lies not in the Alaskan-Siberian migration theory
but in the possibility of migrations coming also from the east, acrossus ARE, JOURNAL
the Atlantic, and from the west, across the Pacific. These migrations
would have come not as small wandering tribes, families or lone
hunters but as organized groups for colonization. With them, they
‘would have brought skill in the arts and crafts, a written language and
astrong cultural heritage, These new waves of immigrants would have
settled in widely separated places on the continents. Eventually, they
would have come in contact with other groups, and for some, trade
and a regular exchange of information and goods would have
developed. The result, over a long period of time, would be a fusion
into new cultures
‘The Edgar Cayce readings provide us with the key {0 solving the
mystery of the population of the Americas, That information states
that the Americas were visited many times by many different peoples
for various reasons. Wave after wave of Atlanteans emigrated to
various parts of the world before the final break-up of their continent
about 10,500 B.C. Long before that, the Lemurians of the South
Pacific also were forced to migrate.
The readings suggest that the first inhabitants of America arrived
from Lemuria before it was destroyed in violent geographical up-
heavals:
‘Then, with that portion, shen the South Pacific, or Lemuria [Mu] began its
disappearance — even before Atlantis, for the changes were brought about in
the latter portion of that period, or what would be termed ten thousand
seven hundred (10,700) light years, or earth yeats, oF present setting of those,
as set by Amilius, or Adam, 364-4
Peru, Mus nearest neighbor, was also rocked by the holocuust.
Survivors of the motherland took refuge in colonies which Lemurians
hhad set up prior to the inundation. They were a skilled people, as can
be seen in the following excerpt
the entity was among those in the Peruvian country, when the Aymras
{2] were in charge ofthe rule as pertaining to religious rites, and the entity, th
the Priestess to the High Aymara [2] . .. gained much; yet there were those
conditions that were ever as burdens to the entity, and the urge as is seen in the
entity from this is love of music, of art, of art treasures of every thing pertain-
ing, especially, to braided or beaded works, for the entity was in that position
as of the gver of these to all peoples 2486-1
Long after the disappearance of Lemuria, the highly advanced
culture of Atlantis met a similar fate. However, the people had been
warned and many did leave the country and traveled to Peru, Central
America, North America, Spain and Egypt. With them they took a
portion of their science, which eventually, through the centuries, was

Hence those things of nature that have to do with communication become
a part of the entity’s experience, 12154
‘There were other influences besides those from Atlantis, Lemuria
and their colonies. The Lost Tribes of Israel are mentioned several
times in the readings as having left their influence on the American
seene:

City. Hence there arose through the age, a different civilization, a mixture again,

The mention of sireraft and communications in remote antiquity
challenges our modern concept of the evolution of civilizations from
primitive stages, which gradually increased in complexity, up to the
present, For many, it is difficult to accept the idea of super civiliza-
tions rising and falling in the remote past because of the lack of evi:
dence to support the belief that any advanced science ever previously
existed, Certainly no skyscrapers, automobiles or televisions have
ever been found. However, this is assuming their science and tech=
nology progressed along the same lines as in the present.
The following excerpt indicates that in many cases the civilization
of Atlantis was, in some ways, equivalent to or possibly surpassing
our own:
[As indicated, the entity was associated with those who dealt with mechanical
appliances and their application, during the experience, And as we find, it was
a period when there was much that has not even been thought of as yet in the
present experience, 4405
Certainly, if a material science existed which enabled flight and
mass transportation, migration to any, or all, parts of the world
‘would have been possible. It is probable, however, that most of such116 A.RE, JOURNAL
travel would have been to the more advanced parts of the world, just
as it is today, Therefore, such cities and colonies would necessarily
develop to the highest degree and there should be archaeological
evidence. Discoveries in Egypt, Peru, Yucatan, Mexico and parts of
the United States indicate early civilizations.
If the North American continent were suddenly submerged, how
long would the world’s industries carry on without supplies? Some
would continue for a while, reproducing worn-out parts from what-
ever was available, Eventually, however, as machines would break
or parts wear out, those machines, along with the goods they pro-
duced, would be no more. Radios would continue until a transistor
which could not be replaced failed, Lights would continue until the
filaments of all the spare bulbs were broken. But eventually, after
perhaps a few centuries, the last glimmer of a once magnificent
era would flicker and die.
Long before the breakdown of the last machine, however, the
survivors would have begun to adapt themselves to getting along
without it, Man is a tenacious animal and life would continue to
exist with or without the convenience of complex machines. Only
legends and myths would continue down through time as man
returned to a simpler form of living. After many thousands of years,
the myths would be only a whisper on the lips of a wise man,
