I am Matteo Coda and I am foreseeing to complete my MoS in Aeronautical Engineering in September

2015. As of now, I am finishing my thesis work. During my academic career I have had the opportunity to
study a wide range of subjects, ranging from aerodynamics to structural dynamics and flight dynamics.
Thus, these formative years have provided me with the knowledge and the passion for everything that is
involved in many areas of physics. Since I have chosen to focus my studies in Aerospace Structures, I have
developed a strong interest for structural control systems, design and materials, especially in the field of
composites. In particular, my thesis work (in collaboration with Agusta Westland) has been instrumental in
defining and enhancing my knowledge of composites materials, both numerically (FEA) and experimentally,
allowing me to perform laboratory related characterization activities and simulate them with Finite

While it may be easy to focus on the technical side of my background, I have found that being able to
express concerns and alternative solution during projects to my fellow classmates has proved to be an
invaluable of occasion of learning not only from a technical standpoint but also from a social and
interpersonal one. Moreover, especially due to the nature of my thesis work, which often involved strict
deadlines and contacts with external companies, I believe to have learned some insights on how to handle
my work and time even in strained situations, where many objectives seemed to be unlikely to be achieved
in the little time available.
I truly believe in innovation and research and I strive to work in an exciting and dynamic environment
where my goals and skills can be continually challenged in order to achieve outstanding results.
