The Parents Role Models Influence Kids

Behavior
Days ago, I saw an interesting folk adage on the internet, She
lives up to the family name. This sentence means that when a kid
grows up, his or her behavior will be similar with his or her family. That
is to say that the parents role models influence kids behaviors. Here
are many examples around us. Parents who abuse drugs or alcohol are
more likely to find their children someday to do the same. Also, adults
who were abused as children many indeed hurt their own children
when they grow upKaren Stephens. As parents are socializers of
achievement-related values, and, ultimately, kids' occupational visions
of themselves in the future (Kathleen M. Jodl, Alice Michael, Oksana
Malanchuk, Jacquelynne S. Eccles, Arnold Sameroff, 2001), Id like to
focus on the cause about this situation.
First of all, kids, generally referring to the minors who are able to
perceive new things, are at the age of being curious about everything
around and trying to follow everything fresh to them. As a result, this is
an extremely important stage to shape their behaviors. Whats more,
compared with adults, kids may be more willing to attempt different
things. Besides, these little kids without any clear idea about right or
wrong only do following in this age. Thats why they are easier to be
influenced.

And another reason about this kind of phenomenon is that the

parents are the very first teachers during a kids lifetime. We can see
kids following their parents behaviors in every family. To be honest,
home is the place where kids stay most, which means that kids see
their parents behaviors more often at home than in any other place.
So it may be very likely for kids to try to approach the environments
that are similar to their homes or even construct one. So if there is a
family enjoying reading, the kids from this kind of home would like to
prefer libraries in all likelihood. Besides, as kids always believe that
their parents are right, they may imitate what their parents did even
without their parents around. Moreover, when solving some problems,
as kids always see what their parents do in many cases and are very
familiar with that so that they will do the same subconsciously.
Finally, there is one thing that we cannot ignore when talking
about parents and kids: the gene. Ones character is thought to be
inborn and it is given by his or her parents and very hard to change in
the future. In my opinion, inherent character is also a kind of role
model for a person. It is a kind of present from parents and there is no
discrimination between good and bad among these characters. A kid
was born with this gene and it is exactly influenced by their parents. It
is still possible for parents to solve such problems. After all, parenting
can be affected by first influencing psychological personalities (Jay
Belsky, 1984). According to a research about the role of parenting style

in childrens problem behavior, the high level of psychological control

exercised by mothers combined with high affection predicted increases
in the level of both internal and external behaviors among children
(Kaisa Aunola and Jari-Erik Nurmi, 2005).
It is exact that parents role models do influence kids behaviors.
As a result, parents should pay more attention on themselves and try
to be a good guide for their kids. Being worried if a kid is so outgoing
or too bashful makes no sense on educating because the character
would barely be changed. However, parents can still set a good
example for their kids to tell them how to deal with these problems.
There is no doubt that kids will try to follow these behaviors. The best
parenting style is understood as a context with which socialization
occurs rather than as a socialization practice itself (Nancy Darling and
Laurence Steinberg, 1993), which means the best education for
parents is that teaching by doing everything properly and positively
and keeping in mind that what you are doing now will change your kids
in the future.
