Thesis statement: lack of quality of sleep can have negative impacts on our physical,
emotional, and mental health.
Most of us have experienced problems in falling asleep. The troubles normally and
usually occur temporarily, due to other outside factors. Sleep helps human in daily life and
lack of quality of sleep can have negatives impact like on our physical, emotional, and mental
health.
Firstly, sleep is what we need after doing our daily activities. Sleep helps us achieve a
healthy body. Athletes for an example, all athletes eat, sleep, breathe and live for their sport.
Furthermore, sleep plays a major role in athletic performance and competitive results to their
physical condition. Therefore, quality and adequate amount of sleep have become one of the
keys behind the success of an athlete. An athlete must sleep for six to eight hours a day to
improve their performance and endurance during a game. In fact, while we sleep, our body
system will restore the energy and as for athletes body it will repair any internal injuries.
Lack of sleep increases the chance to our body to feel exhausted and low energy.
Secondly, workers often find it challenging to balance sleep and activity with their
varying shifts. Furthermore, usually workers get less than six hours of sleep a night. Also,
The National Institutes of Health recommends that active workers need seven to nine hours of
sleep. The total daily sleep time is usually shortened and sleep quality is less to those who
work during night shifts as compared to day shifts. Thus, lack of sleep for workers may affect
their emotional state such as mood swings, anger and depression. Workers should try to stay
on the same sleeping schedule every day. They cannot change their sleeping time on their day
off to keep the quality of their sleep.
Lastly, falling asleep can be hard sometimes it may affects our health, lets take
students life as an example. Having a hard time to fall asleep at night is a normal thing
amongst students. Often occur when they are about to go to sleep, they tend to think about
their assignments that should be done instead of sleeping. Furthermore, they had to stay
awake until most of their assignments are finished, this will make them lose hours of sleeping
time. They will not be able to wake up early to attend class normally. Thus, if this kind of
lifestyle is continuously practised, it may affects on their mental state. Mentally side effects
could cause depression, bipolar disorder, memory loss and attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD). When student lose their sleep it may be effected on their learning, and
reaction of time.
