Resources Management
Human Resources management can be
one of the most fulfilling and lucrative
sectors of management in Australia; the
industry continues to grow each year
and many companies are now looking
for trained professionals.
This nationally recognised management qualification
could be your entry into this rewarding career or it
could help you build on your existing skills to take
your current HR position to the next level.
If you can clearly communicate the organisations
goals, workplace culture, objectives and policies
while displaying people management and relating
skills, this could be the career step for you. Ideally
you will have solid business ethics, leadership
qualities, communication skills, and be able to
contribute to a business through functions such as
policy development.
The course is available online and can be undertaken
at your own pace around your current commitments.
You will learn basic skills in industrial relations,
talent management, succession planning, as well as
diversity and inclusion.
Qualified and professional Open Colleges trainers
will support you throughout your course, guiding
you towards your personal goals. You will be
provided with industry-current learning materials
developed by North Coast TAFE and receive a nationally
recognised TAFE qualification upon completion.

Entry requirements
Education requirements
You will need to have completed Year 12, or
equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by
one of the following: a qualification at Certificate
III level or higher, or two years of industry
experience in a role that requires the use of written
documentation and communication.
To give yourself the best chance of success in this
course it is recommended you follow the preferred
pathway for this qualification.
Preferred pathways for students considering this
qualification include:
> BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources
or other relevant qualification/s; OR
> have vocational experience in human resource
management, but without formal qualifications,
in which event, we recommend you discuss your
RPL options with a Course and Careers Advisor.
Minimum age
You will need to be at least 18 years old to
undertake this course.
English language requirements
This course requires you to read comprehensive
learner workbooks, undertake a range of written

Computing requirements
You will need to have basic computing skills to
undertake this course. This includes the ability to:
> use the computer, mouse and keyboard with
proficiency in skills required to integrate
software packages, save files and search
the internet
> compress and upload an audio and video file
> save a compressed file (.zip)
> save a PDF File.
Minimum specifications for your computer are:

Audio-Visual Requirements
You will need access to a digital video recording
device and associated software to save and upload
video files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and
smartphones include this technology.

Assessment details
Assessments in this course include questioning,
portfolios of evidence, written reports, case
studies and video and audio role plays
and demonstrations.
Some assessments include a component for
students to record a video and/or audio file. The
requirements for these videos vary, depending on
the assessment. If you are unable to conduct these
in the workplace, if this is a requirement of the
assessment, you have the option of engaging with
friends, family and other students to record this via
other means, such as Skype.

Learning Support
The learning support team is a dedicated team of
specialists that provide you with a comprehensive
induction to studying with Open Colleges as well
as specific support if you encounter learning
difficulties during your studies. Learning support
resources, such as writing guides, are available in
OpenSpace. You can access the learning support
team via your trainer and assessor or the student
support team.
Peer Support
As a student of Open Colleges you can also
access our study buddy system. This enables you
to connect with other Open Colleges students
studying your course that live near you. Students
find this is a great way to keep motivated and
build lasting friendships and networks.
