Process Data: 5 pairs of academically at-risk freshman and twelfth grade students met
weekly for approximately one month. Each pair met four to five times over this period.
Perception Data: On a Likert-scale, freshmen mentees rated their excitability to go to
school each day and ability to succeed at school on a scale of 1-5. The average score of
the excitability to attend school measure increased from 1.5 to 2, while the students
ratings of their academic self-efficacy remained constant at 3.2 over time. Additionally,
all mentees rated themselves as leaders within their school both before and after the
program. The Likert-scale rating of the support that these individuals felt at school also
remained high at 4.25 out of 5.
