20754 Sardinia Way, Porter Ranch, CA 91326 Phone (805) 554-7747 http://www.uniqueclubandbar.com November 12, 2016 Palm Spring Planning Commission 3200 E Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Springs, CA 92262 +1 760-323-8245 To the Planning Commission: We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your letter dated December 10, 2016, in response to our application to open a club and restaurant business and appreciate noting your concerns therein. We understand the reservations that the Commission has regarding the operations of such a business on Arcade Street. My partners examined your letter carefully, and we would like to make a request for further consideration of the critical clarifications that we wish to bring to your attention. Indeed, we would like you to consider our experiences elsewhere in managing similar ventures, the value we add to our host cities, how our presence publicizes a city, how connected businesses benefit, the employment opportunities we create, and the added tax that a town collects (Willard 108). Notably, Unique Club and Barmanages three similar outlets, and we consider them successful because they are profitable and pay tax. Therefore, our proposed venture will benefit greatly from this experience and benefit the society. In the three outlets, we managed to get gross sales of $ 200,000 on average per month, and the same is moving towards $ 250, 000 by the end of this year. Concerning the Commission's query on our adherence to Alcohol Licensing regulations, we would like to assure the committee that we fully comply with our licenses to serve alcohol, and all our business have never been sanctioned for non-compliance. Please refer to the Local Licensing Committee for verification (Ashe et.al 1404). In our endeavors, our greatest satisfaction is in ensuring that our customers are safe as they enjoy their experience. Mainly, this includes ensuring that our patrons are of age and guarantee their safety while in our premises and in their home (Schofield, Weeks, and Sansonfisher 827). Furthermore, my partners and I are aware of the commissions reservations concerning extra costs relating to public safety. In the existing ventures, we
have taken additional measures and exceeded market standards to hire an
average of ten guards per club and restaurant. As a result, only a few and isolated cases of violence are reported. Additionally, we have partnered with taxi companies to ensure that our late patrons get home safely. Therefore, it is already in our organization structure to guarantee our customers and staffs safety and, therefore, the burden is not transferable to the department. Undoubtedly, the opening of such a business will open an avenue for other related businesses. Indeed, the cabs, the nearby shops, suppliers will get businesses from our customers and us. Additionally, our policy dictates that we employ 70% of our members of staff from the host community and therefore, we expect to have more than fifty employees on the local population. Additionally, because of the business name that we have built in the recent past, we anticipate that by opening the business in the street, we will create publicity to the city, further opening doors for other investors to see the city in a positive light. Apart from these positive impacts, my partners and I anticipate that we will ably pay our taxes as we enhance the visibility of the area within which our business is located. We are confident that we will adhere to the above recommendations and any other requirement that the commission may bring to our attention. Additionally, it is our submission that the addition of unique nightclub and restaurant on the Arcade Street will not have any adverse effects on the street and the city in general. Therefore, we kindly request that you reconsider your initial decision on our application. Your consideration of our request is highly appreciated. Yours faithfully,
