their physical gestures and volume of their singing voices during the song Sing, Sing.

routines, following an echo-me learning method, and the rules of the doggie game.

Doggie stuffed animal for the game

Accommodations:
a. Special needs students (non severe) will be accommodated with clear and concise
direction. Everyone will be getting this accommodation, so this isnt focused exclusively
for special needs students.
b. ELL students in this class may not need accommodations, as everyone will be
acting as a model during the call and response activities. Plus, visuals will be used to
assist learning.

Lesson Sequence:

a. Activity: Hello songs (tailor for loud/soft with a vocal demonstration during Hello, How
are You?).

b. Activity: Follow-the-line pitch direction activity (vocal exploration).

c. Activity: Have students find a space in the room to make the large and small statues
with their bodies that was practiced in the last class. Play the piano on loud and soft
sounds to have students react to each. Then, expose students to a different timbre by
using a hand drum for the same activity.

d. Activity: Call students back to the rug and teach the Sing, Sing song by rote. Explain
that the whole class will sing the first part and a student leader will lead the class in an
echo me way of teaching. Demonstrate how student-leaders will guide the song.

e. Activity: Once all willing students have had an opportunity to lead the Sing,
Sing song, go over the song by asking questions like Why did we use a lion for loud
sounds? What other animals could we have used? Use the same process for the moth
with soft sounds. Also, have students explain why they use particular gestures (hands
together v. hands apart) for different sound levels.

f. Activity: Sing This Little Light Of Mine involving loud and soft sounds.

g. Activity: Play the doggie game (using loud or soft singing voices when a student is
trying to find the missing doggie thats been hidden in the classroom).

Assignments: I will make assignments to myself based on what I observe in the class.

Contingency plan: Doggie game/rat-a-tat-tat with student examples/movement activities
