ROTATING MACHINERY SPECIALIST

Basic Function:
1.

Layout center lines for units to be installed.

2.

Install leveling plates with 0 to +_ 0.05mm tolerance of desired elevation

3.

Chipping of foundation in preparation for final grouting of the unit, that is when unit is
mounted and aligned.

4.

Units installed/assembled and per aligned & final aligned: Reciprocating & centrifugal
pumps, compressors, drive motors, vertical Vessel, heat ex-changers, fan coolers,
exhaust fans, tube bandles, fan Blades, rings flywheels, piston rings & etc for
compressors (Butane& Propane), emergency generator.

5.

Inspects gas engine turbines and associated equipment within operations area.

6.

Diagnoses and analyses damages/faults of equipments and makes appropriate

recommendation to supervisor.

7.

Monitors and measures vibration readings level and keeps records for each unit.

8.

Maintains close and continuous contacts with operating division's personnel and
supervises the work of contractors.

9.

Ensures the availability, proper storage and operation conditions of all assigned tools
and equipment.

10. Assist supervisor to review spare parts and raises necessary requests.
11. Prepares related reports as appropriate.
Tasks, Duties and Accountabilities:
1.

Foundation preparation includes chipping of concrete for the best grout result of
fixators installation and leveling with respect to required elevation.

2.

Elevation and centering adjustment for generator.

3.

Clean in prepare shims for pre-alignment.

4.

Submit final reading to inspector + or -0.5 mm tolerance.

5.

As per dial reading in further computation, add or take out shim.

6.

Erection of parts in steam turbine

Installation of high pressure inner casing lower half
Installing of low pressure inner casing lower half.
Installation of nozzle diaphragm.
Installation of gland packing head.
Installation of upper half inner casing.
Once printed this document becomes uncontrolled, refer to DMS for controlled copy.

Monitor record of dial gauge movement upon piping connection at works.

Preparation for final assembly of turbine elements, inner casing, nozzle, diaphragm,
gland packing head, trust bearing no.1 and bearing no.2Sets priorities and allocates
work to technicians and contractor's personnel, providing technical guidance as
necessary.

10. Ensures availability proper storage and operation conditions of all assigned tools and
equipment.
11. Assist supervisor to review spare parts and updates various tools and equipments
records.
12. Maintains good housekeeping and order at work site.
13. Adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Completion of technical secondary education certificate followed by 3 years formal
training in mechanical trades.
2. 5 years experience in oil/gas industry including gas turbine trouble-shooting and major
overhauls.
3. Good knowledge of English and Arabic languages.
