Punch shears

Free shears: Our service, your benefit.

Choosing from among different punch shear options has proven itself over the years e.g. as a means of reducing punching force.
From now on, you receive this TRUMPF service for all punch shears free of charge. Permanently and guaranteed.

Find out more about Whisper and roof punch shears and take advantage of the benefits our beveled punches offer - without any
extra charge.

Your benefits at a glance:

Increased tool life thanks to reduced friction
Reduction of the punching noise through reduced punching force
Lower sheet distortion thanks to lower tensions within the part

What the right shear can do.

All punches are normally delivered with a flat cutting surface.

The punch also has a longer service life thanks to reduced

Beveled punches, however, offer a number of benefits when

compared to flat punches:

shear results in a reduction of tensions in the part by up to

20%. This reduces the distortion in your product.

For punches with the same dimensions, the use of beveled

punches can reduce the necessary punching force by up

life thanks to a lower friction when plunging into the sheet.

When do I use which shear?

Beveled punches are especially effective when working with
high-tensile and tough materials. The decision for a particular
shear depends on the punching operation involved.
Whisper (Fig. 1) makes sense for the reduction of

punching force especially in the case of large punch

diameters and thick sheets.
Roof (Fig. 2), moreover, neutralizes the transverse forces

which are generated. Because of the evenly distributed

forces the roof shear is particularly suited for the punching
of geometries which are close together. The twisting of
webs, for example, is therefore reduced.
The benefit of shear punches increases as the material
