Day three is the start of Arts and Theatre programme at Witty. Wittians and the Dutch
students will be working together during the next three days and close it off with a
Performance for parents and guests on Wednesday evening.
Students begin the day with Yoga.
Derived from the Sanskrit word yuj, Yoga means union
of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. Yoga is
a 5000-year-old Indian body of knowledge. Though many think of yoga only as a physical
exercise where people twist, turn, stretch, and breathe in the most complex ways, these are
actually only the most superficial aspect of this profound science of unfolding the infinite
potentials of the human mind and soul. The science of Yoga imbibes the complete essence
of the Way of Life.
Later in the day, Indian and Dutch students will work together on the Indian Mythological
and Historical plays and put together a performance on various folk dances in India.
Students will work together on Ramlila a dramatic folk re-enactment of the life of Rama,
ending up in ten-day battle between Rama and Ravana, as described in the Hindu religious
epic, the Ramayana.

Today the Dutch students and the Witty students will be making a lovely trip to South
Mumbai. All students need to be at school at 07.00 am, as the bus will leave at 07:30. You
are going to do photo tour through the city. You will return at school around 19:00.
Mumbai, formerly called Bombay, is a sprawling, densely populated city on Indias west
coast.
Highlights of the Tour:
Gateway of India - On the Mumbai Harbour waterfront stands the iconic Gateway of
India stone arch, built by the British Raj. It was built as a triumphal arch to
commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai .
The Taj
Mahal Palace Hotel is a "Heritage Grand" class five-star hotel located in the Colaba
region of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, next to the Gateway of India.
On 26
November 2008, in a series of attacks in Mumbai, the hotel was attacked by Lashkare-Taiba, a terrorist group, during which material damage occurred, including the
destruction of the hotel's roof in the hours following
Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum - Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum
was established in 1872 as the erstwhile Victoria and Albert Museum, Bombay. As
Mumbais first Museum, it showcases the citys cultural heritage and history through
a rare collection of Fine and Decorative Arts that highlight Early Modern Art
practices as well as the craftsmanship of various communities of the Bombay
Presidency. The Museum, once in a derelict condition, underwent a comprehensive
five-year restoration and won UNESCOs 2005 Award of Excellence in the field of
Cultural Conservation. Students will be able to experience the Suitcase Museum
which is a collection of 44 objects from Dayanita Singhs Museum of Chance (Steidl,
2015). Two suitcases make up this museum, presaging the future form of the museum
and both condensing and expanding its boundaries.
Colaba Causeway -Today, it is termed as the 'Culture Square' of Mumbai. Apart
from upmarket retail showrooms, and small shops dealing in electronic goods,
cosmetics, and music, it has a pavement book stall dating back several decades,
besides having numerous small shops and footpath outlets selling everything from
artifacts to shawls, carpets and minor antiques to slippers, which make tourists,
backpackers and locals from South Mumbai, throng the area through the year.
There are over 50,000 exhibits, spread over an area of 100,000 sq. feet and divided
into separate sections, historically as well as architecturally.
The Haji Ali Dargah is a historical landmark in Mumbai, and is also one of the most
prestigious Islamic symbols situated in South Mumbai. The Haji Ali was built by a
wealthy Muslim merchant who became a saint named Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. He
renounced all worldly pleasures before embarking on a pilgrimage to Mecca. The
Haji Ali Dargah was built in his honor in 1431 AD. The whitewashed structure is
situated in an area of 4,500 meters and is flanked by crisp, marble pillars that are still
marveled at today. This 400-year-old structure that stands in Mumbai today has
degenerated and corroded in many places and the structural upgradation of this
marvelous structure began in 2008. People from all over the world visit the Haji Ali
Dargah irrespective of caste, religion and creed.
ISKCON Temple :Hare Krishna Land (ISKCON Juhu) is set upon four acres of
prime land and a stone throw away from Juhu beach. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON, inspired the construction of one of Indias most
beautiful temple of Lord Krishna in Mumbai.
Opened in 1978, the complex includes a
spacious marble temple, a recently renovated auditorium, a huge restaurant and a
twin towered seven-storey guest house where visitors can stay and participate in the
daily spiritual programs of the temple.
Cathedral of the Holy Name: On the quiet Nathalal Parekh Marg (formerly
Wodehouse Road), parallel to the arterial Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, you will come
across a cluster of grey stone structures, imposing to the eye and yet blending with
the landscape, redolent of a more gracious time when height, space and grandeur
were imperatives in the creation of a building and more particularly of a house of
prayer. These structures are the Cathedral of the Holy Name flanked by the Fort
Convent, Cathedral House, and Archbishop's House.

Sadly, today our Dutch friends will also be going back to Netherlands. They leave early
next morning so the host families will bring the Dutch students to school with the luggage
at 9 pm in the night. From there after final goodbyes we leave for the airport in the WIS
Coach.
Today Students will live up to the Christmas Spirit by singing Christmas Carols. They will
also attend a Vedic Math Workshop. Vedic Maths complements the Mathematics
curriculum conventionally taught in schools by acting as a powerful checking tool and goes
to save precious time in examinations. The methods & techniques are based on the
pioneering work of late Swami Shri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji, Sankracharya of Puri, who
established the system from the study of ancient Vedic texts coupled with a profound
insight into the natural process of mathematical reasoning. There are just 16 Sutras or
Formulae which solve all known mathematical problems in the branches of Arithmetic,
Algebra, Geometry and Calculus. They are easy to understand, easy to apply and easy to
remember.
