Standard 4: Instruction

Criteria

Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Goals for Student Teaching

4.1 Teachers align their instructional goals and

activities with school and district priorities and Ohios
academic content standards.
4.2 Teachers use information about students learning
and performance to plan and deliver instruction that
will close the achievement gap.

4.3 Teachers communicate clear learning goals and

explicitly link learning activities to those defined
goals.

4.4 Teachers apply knowledge of how students think

and learn to instructional design and delivery.

4.5 Teachers differentiate instruction to support the

learning needs of all students, including students
identified as gifted, students with disabilities, and atrisk students.
4.6 Teachers create and select activities that are
designed to help students develop as independent
learners and complex problem-solvers.

Strengths: All lesson plans are guided by the state

of Ohios content standards.
Weaknesses: Slightly unfamiliar with district
standards.
Strengths: The SLOs and pre-assessments that are
designed to be administered prior to the start of
the unit help identify the areas of content that
need more focus.
Weaknesses: There is not always a pre-assessment
before a unit.
Strengths: At the start of activities, I reiterate
learning goals and how the activity applies to that
goal.
Weaknesses: I offer the information as opposed to
asking students.
Strengths: I gave students a survey at the start of
the semester to find learning style preferences.
Weaknesses: I had to help students understand the
different types of learning that can be
experienced. It wasnt already clear to them how
teachers differentiate.
Strengths: I incorporate multiple activities within
a week to appeal to different types of learners.
Weaknesses: I allow students time to as me
questions but there is often not much time
allowed.
Strengths: Students work independently on end of
unit projects in the computer lab.
Weaknesses: Students have a tendency to
plagiarize.

Goals: Familiarize with district standards through

personal investigation and support of CMT.
Goals: Work to design a pre-assessment before
every unit. Kahoot quizzes grab students
attention best.

Goals: Inquire to students how the activity applies

to the learning goal.

Goals: Have students take a multiple intelligences

quiz at the start of the semester so they
understand their strengths.

Goals: Incorporate more work days where

students can have a one on one learning
experience with either myself or my CMT.
Goals: The spring semester will begin with a unit
on plagiarism.

4.7 Teachers use resources effectively, including

technology, to enhance student learning.

Overall Rating:

Target

Strengths: Kahoot, Plicker, and Virtual Reality

glasses are among some technology that has been
used or will be used in the classroom.
Weaknesses: Not all students have the technology
to participate in Kahoot.
