Dear Professor Connolly,

During this semester in English 2 we have gone over many thing and with those many
things we covered all of our learning out comes. We covered the reading skills in numerus ways
like how we annotated The Invisible Gorilla and then getting in groups and discussing what we
read together, which help us analyze and synthesize the information we read though purposeful
discussion and argumentative writing. Which annotating Logic and Contemporary Reading
will also fall under. In addition, we also evaluated How to tame a wild Tongue which then we
were able to distinguish between strengths and weaknesses of an argument. Which brings me to
our rhetorical analysis which was our first essay in the class which we went in depth analyzing
the reading. Last but not least is the advertisement analysis helped us identify premises and
logical progressions of these arguments to discover how conclusions are formed. The next
Learning outcome we accomplished was writing skill: critical and analytic. We accomplished
this outcome by evaluating arguments in the reading by which we made our first essay. We
crafted and revised cogent, lucid arguments. In addition, we exhibited logical, clear thought,
control of meaning, and reflected maturity of style and appropriate tone in all my papers.
Evaluating others papers, peer workshops, and peer letters also helped us achieve this goal. The
third learning outcome we accomplished was writing skills: control and presentation by our class
presentation, we connected visual with written analysis. Our shity first draft was also one that
helped us along with our revision and revision plan. Last but not least the last outcome we
achieved was information competency. We were able to effectively locate, evaluate, and use
appropriate resource material to give credibility to claims and counter-arguments needed to
explore and substantiate their perspectives. In addition, we were also able to present our
arguments in correct MLA format in our writing assignments
I believe that my participation in our class will affect my grade, but not so dramatically.
In the future I do plan to participate more in class by actually talking in group discussions not
only in groups of four but in the class group. I will accomplish this by asking questions, speaking
up, and just straight up talking.
Overall, my portfolio reflects my best work because the two papers I includes are papers
that speak to me. The topics in the two are topics that I have strong thoughts for. Therefore, I do
believe that this portfolio reflects my best work.

Sincerely,
Juan Mendoza
