Eartrainingisallaboutlearningtorecognizesoundsusingyourearsandfortifyingtheconnection
betweenyourheadandyourfingers.Itistheskillbywhichwelearntoidentifypitches,intervals,
melody,chords,rhythms,andotherbasicelementsofmusicsolelybyhearing.Awelltrainedear
allowsthemusicthatyouhearinyourheadtocomeoutthroughyourfingertips.Itgivesyouthe
sensitivityandabilitytoplaywhatyouhearandfeelwithouthavingtorelyonseeinganoteand

canplayaCmajorscale(CDEFGAB)inanypositionandsingeachnoteofthescaleasyou
playit,beingverycarefultosingonpitchasaccuratelyaspossible.Startwithonenote:playthe
note,singit,andthenplayandsingthenotesimultaneously.Thengototwonotes.Onceyoufeel
comfortable,takealittlepieceofthatscale,say,thenotesC,D,EandF,andcreateaverysimple

Playalongwithsongs
Startoffbychoosingasimplesong(nurseryrhymes,Christmascarols,easypopularsongs,etc.)
