In Mogadishu, MP-elect Jamma, who won the all-female contest,
bagging all the 51 votes cast, to clinch the seat for the Muse Abokar
sub clan, hailed the partnership between the African Union Mission
in Somalia (AMISOM) and the Somali security forces which made the
electoral process possible.
I want to congratulate the Somali security institutions for securing
the process. Mogadishu has been very peaceful right from the time I
arrived from Somaliland, and all this has been possible because
AMISOM troops have greatly supported Somali security forces. I
salute them, Ms Jamma stated.
Mr Hayir who was re-elected hailed the role played by the Somali
security forces and the international community, in facilitating the
process.
I am proud of the Somali security agencies which have directed all
their energy towards securing this electoral process. I also salute
the role the international community has played to ensure that this
process takes place so that we have peace, development and good
governance. AMISOM troops have played a big role to ensure that
the process is incident free, MP-elect Hayir noted.
MP-elect Isse praised the decision to uphold the 30 percent women
quota, saying it has given women a chance to participate in the
affairs of the country.
