Student Reflection
I was able to collaborate a lot with my cooperating
teacher. She showed me master copies of the
worksheets shes used to teach that lesson in
previous years. I was able to use that as a base for
the lesson I created.

Level of understanding the process of


constructing a lesson plan

Id say I understand the basics of it but I still dont


know how to create a lesson plan from scratch,
which I will work on in my next lesson.

Level of planning and preparation for


lesson

I prepared and planned a lot for this lesson. I


continuously practiced and timed myself the night
before so I would be fully prepared. However, I had
not prepared for the amount of questions and the
time they would take.

Level of understanding of content


objectives

I believe I have a pretty good understanding of the


content objectives.

Level of comfort in teacher role

I feel very comfortable in front of the class teaching


them and talking to them.

Ability to maintain eye contact and


students attention

I believe that I have a very strong ability to


maintain eye contact and students attention
because I am constantly looking around to make
sure that the students are paying attention and
throughout the lesson I ask them a lot of questions
in order to keep them engaged.

Ability to effectively sequence the


lesson

I believe that I did this pretty well because I started


by talking about the previous lesson and then used
a warm-up question to lead them into the next
lesson and then taught them that lesson.

Utilizes positive reinforcement

Every time the students would answer a question


whether or not it was correct, I would tell them that
they did a good job or they put in good effort but

arent quite there yet.

This is something that I need to work on. I kept


trying to answer each students question and didnt
consider the time that it was taking.
I incorporated many of the instructional strategies
and materials such as worksheets, teacher
instruction, and more.
I made sure that I would be wide awake that day so
that I could be enthusiastic in teaching the lesson
so that the students could be enthusiastic about
learning it.

do to help you improve those

1. Timing

I need to keep an eye on the time throughout


the lesson and be more aware of the time
that each activity is taking.

2. More positive reinforcement


phrases

I found myself to be saying good job and


nice try a lot so I need to take another
look at my alphabet positive reinforcement
phrases so that I can use more.

3. Walking around more

I was mostly staying in one spot the whole


time I taught and I believe that in order to
keep the students attention I need to move
around so they arent looking at the same
thing the whole time. I can do this by mixing
up where/ what I am teaching. Such as,
instead of teaching through the projector the
whole time, I will also use the whiteboard a
little bit more.
