Noah

Scripture
Print off, cut out and laminate the pictures below. Use the picture to
tell the story below of Noah and the ark.

Genesis 67; Moses 8 Thus did Noah; according to all that

God commanded him, so did he. Genesis 6:22
During a time when almost everyone on the earth was
wicked, the Lord called Noah to teach people the gospel.
Noah told them to repent and be baptized or they would
be destroyed by floods, but the people would not listen.
Some of them were so angry with Noah that they wanted
to kill him, but the Lord protected him. (See Genesis 6:5;
Moses 8:1826.)

When the people would not repent, the Lord told Noah that
He would "bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to
destroy all flesh" (Genesis 6:17). To protect Noah and his
family from this great flood, the Lord commanded Noah to
build an ark. The ark was to have three levels, many
rooms, a window on the top, and a door in the side. Noah was
to use pitch, or tar, to make the ark watertight, and
the ark would be about 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and
45 feet high. (See Genesis 6:1416.)

Noah and his sons built the ark according to the Lord's
instructions (see Genesis 6:22; Genesis 7:5). The Lord told
them to take at least one male and one female "of every
living thing of all flesh" (Genesis 6:19). They also had to
take food for the animals and for themselves (see Genesis
6:21).

When the ark was finished and everything was ready, Noah
and his family boarded the ark along with the animals
(see Genesis 7:7). Noah was now 600 years old, and the
flood waters were about to come upon the earth (see
Genesis 7:6). Noah had obeyed the Lord in preaching the
gospel, building the ark, and gathering the animals. And
the Lord made it rain and rain and rain until the whole
Earth was covered in water, all the wicked people died
and the ark was floating on water.

After being on the ark for a long time Noah let a dove go
and it returned with some branches in it’s mouth. So Noah
knew that there was land near by. So Noah landed the
ark and let all the animals go and the Lord put a rainbow
in the sky as a promise to never send a flood again as long
as the people stay righteous. Every time we see a
rainbow it should remind us of Noah’s obedience and
revelation and God’s promise to never flood the Earth
again.
Story
Prepare the matching game by printing off the P, R, O, P, H, E, C, and Y.
Then print off the following pictures. Glue the P to the picture of Noah,
the R to the picture of Joseph, the O to the picture of Isiah, the P to
the picture of John the Baptist, the H to the picture of Lehi, the E o
the picture of King Benjamin, the C to the picture of Abinadia and the Y
to the picture of Joseph Smith. Then laminate the picture and display
the pictures throughout the room while your child isn’t looking.
For story time we are going to read some stories about prophets and
prophecies. Define prophecy to your child. Look at each picture and
choose the right picture to your clue. Here are some clues. Go in order
so you spell prophecy. Ask what the children think happened after each
of the prophecies was given. Tell them what did happen.

P – Noah: This prophet prophesied a great flood would cover

the earth if the people did not repent – GAK 102
R – Joseph: This prophet, who had been sold into bondage by
his brothers, warned the Egyptians to save food for a
coming famine – GAK 109
O – Isiah: This Old Testament prophet told of the birth of
Jesus Christ, saying, “For unto us a child is born.” – GAK 113
P – John the Baptist: This prophet warned the people to
repent and be baptized so that the Savior could give
them the Holy Ghost. – GAK 207
H – Lehi: This Book of Mormon prophet warned the people of
Jerusalem to repent or their city would be destroyed. –
GAK 300
E – King Benjamin: This prophet spoke from a tower and
prophesied that the Savior would come and that His
mother’s name would be Mary. - GAK 307
C – Abinidai: This prophet was put to death when he
prophesied that if they didn’t repent, King Noah’s people
would be conquered by their enemies. – GAK 308
Y – Joseph Smith: This prophet promised us health and wisdom
if we lived the Word of Wisdom. – GAK 400

Continue until all the letters have been found and talked about. Then
lay them out and spell the word prophecy. Talk about revelation and how
the prophets get revelation for us but we can also receive personal
revelation ourselves.

Go to the zoo!

If that isn’t possible then you can play this game. Print off the board,
pieces and the rainbow cards. Color the board and laminate it. Assemble
the pieces and dice according to the directions. Cut out the rainbow
cards and laminate them. Start on start and try to roll the dice and
the winner is the first one to finish. When you land on a rainbow you pick
a card from the rainbow cards.
