Statement of Purpose

During my undergraduate studies of Electrical Engineering in University of Engineering

and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, I was always stimulated and fascinated by the research
work in electrical field. I want to become a researcher in the power field. In the
university, I used to do projects which were not practiced before. One of the most popular
problems of the world is the energy crises and according to me, we can overcome this
problem by doing research in Energy field. So I want to be a part of this noble cause.
Since early stages of studies, I was interested in mathematics and science subjects. I was
one of the top students in school. In F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering) l claimed one of the top
twenty positions of Board of Intimidate and Secondary Examination Mirpur A.K. Then
for admission in undergraduate study I appeared in ECAT test and scored admission in
Pakistans best engineering university that is University of Engineering and Technology,
Lahore. I selected Electrical Engineering while I had the options to go in any other field
but my uncle was Electrical Engineer in military of Pakistan and he built my taste
towards Electrical Engineering. Before admission in B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, I knew
a lot about electrical things. I used to do different projects with my uncle like repairing of
different electrical appliances.
During the first two years of B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, I studied different electrical
courses like circuit analysis, circuit designs, analog electronics, digital electronics design,
microprocessor systems, signal and systems and electric machine fundamentals with deep
understanding. I have interest in power subject because today there is a dire need of new
resources of power and energy. Therefore I choose power courses as elective courses in
my last two semesters. I studied power generation and transmission, power distribution
and utilization, power system analysis and design, high voltage engineering, power
system protection, power electronics, power system operation and control and industrial
electronics. I was considered to be the most enthusiastic technical person in class, always
trying new things and projects.
In final year I chose Hybridization of Different Renewable Resources with Utility Grid
as final year project. This was a research based project in which energy from different
renewable resources like solar wind and biomass is obtained to make an efficient,
sustainable and reliable system. Then this system is integrated with utility grid to make it
more efficient. In this project, I studied different schemes to overcome the world energy
crises. We made working model of this system and we simulated the project on ETAP and
HOMER to see the feasibility of the system. During working on this project I felt there is
a lot of work to do in this field and I want a platform to do more research work in power
field.
Recently, I am working in the Energy lab of UET Lahore, we work at different energy
related projects like Energy Audits of different buildings, efficient energy systems and
alternate energy resources. During this recent exposure to the research work, I strongly

believe that I should further study in the energy systems because it is related to my
research and for the best of my interests.
The postgraduate course Energy System Research in Electrical Engineering Department,
KFUPM is offering me an opportunity to pursue my goals and my studies. KFUPM is
one of the top three hundred universities of the world and it is my dream to be one of
KFUPMs graduates. Cutting edge research, leadership in energy discoveries, innovative
solutions, creativity, passion and inclusiveness are the attributes that make KFUPM, my
top preference in the list of universities.
Most of all, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an Islamic country and as for myself, I am also a
Muslim. So, my dream is to study in such a country where education is guided by the
Islamic principles and I believe Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the one.
I strongly believe that I possess the basic aptitude, discipline and perseverance to sustain
the motivation and drive needed for Masters degree. I am confident that education from
your university will provide invaluable experience and excellent opportunity to explore
the field of communication providing me with the best environment to achieve my goals.
