solitudeextrovertsthriveincrowdsandcravestimulationinordertofeelattheirbest.
Cainhaswrittenandspokenaboutthesocietalandculturalbiasagainstintroversionandthenegativeimpactsofthatbias.Ourmostimportant
institutions,ourschoolsandourworkplaces,aredesignedmostlyforextrovertsandforextrovertsneedforlotsofstimulation,shepointsoutina
TEDTalk.Insteadofsittingatdesksarrangedinrows,todaysstudentsaremorelikelytositinpodsandworkingroups.Mostmodernworkplaces
haveopenofficeplans,withoutwalls,wherewearesubjecttotheconstantnoiseandgazeofourcoworkers,Cainsays.Thesearrangements
makeitdifficultforintrovertstofindthesolitudeandmindspacetoworkattheirbest.

environment,introvertsareoftenmoreeffectiveleadersparticularlywhenworkersareproactive,offeringideasforimprovingthebusiness.Such
behaviorcanmakeextrovertedleadersfeelthreatened.Incontrast,introvertedleaderstendtolistenmorecarefullyandshowgreaterreceptivityto
