Is Bruce Ballengers argument valid for all types of writing?

In point of fact, when talking about

the argumentative essay, the thesis statement hampers the thought of the writer. As Bruce
Ballenger said: Instead of offering a guiding hand, the thesis carries a baseball hat, muscling its
way into writers thoughts and beating information into submission. The argumentative essay
has to be more exploratory, and non-limited to the demonstration of a thesis statement. However,
when it is a compare-contrast essay, a thesis statement is necessary. The thesis statement has to
show the similarities and the differences of the topic. In this way, in my opinion, the Bruce
Ballengers argument is not valid for all types of writing.
In the essay titled: The Making of an Intelligent Novice:

Writing, Inquiry, and Prior

Knowledge, the author explained the importance Inquiry-based learning in first-year writing
courses. The author showed that for most of the student, the difficulty of an inquiry writing
resides in finding a good question. And the goal of an inquiry writing is to discover an answer to
an initial question. However, is it possible to not know what should be the answer to an initial
question at the end of an inquiry writing?
