Unit: Writing- Text Types and Purposes
Grade Level: 6th grade
Purpose: This formative task for learning was developed to assess the students ability of
comprehending the main ideas and details of a movie as well as taking a stance on an argument and
using evidence to support. This assessment will help students to prepare for writing pieces that
enable them to summarize their thoughts. The student and teacher will be able to meet individually
to discuss his/her progress and where they are headed.
Standards/Benchmarks:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas,
concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.
