Detectives
and criminal investigators gather facts and collect evidence of possible crimes. They enforce laws, patrol assigned areas, obtain warrants, and arrest suspects. Police officers and detectives prepare
cases, and testify in court. Job duties
differ at local, state, and federal, levels. Detectives and criminal investigators conduct interviews, examine records, and observe the activities of suspects.
Pay
Training
Before becoming an officer you must attend a
training academy. In training you will go through
classroom instructions. You will learn about local
and state laws, constitutional laws, civil rights and
police ethics.
Recruits also
receive training
and supervised
experience in
areas including:
patrol, traffic
control, firearm
use, selfdefense, first
aid, and emergency response.
