In this world, people are identified by his or her socioeconomic status. This identity has
divided people into three classes: upper class, middle class, and lower class. Many people in this
world suffer from poverty, while others dwell in their riches. This causes both physical and
physiological problems among people in this society. This separation of social classes has also
caused division in living areas. People that are wealthy, reside in nice, rich neighborhoods, while
people who do not have as much money or even very little money reside in areas that are not as
well taken care of as the wealthy areas. A perfect example of an elitist society is Beverly Hills.
That area contains some of the richest people in Los Angeles and their wealth impacts the area
greatly. Beverly Hills is well known for its wealth, cleanliness, and beauty, creating an elitist and
exclusionary atmosphere that alienates the average citizen and gives a false sense of superiority
to the residents.
In this city of glamour, living conditions are perfect for its residents. There is a different
atmosphere in Beverly Hills. It is partly created by the cleanliness and the beauty of the city. The
streets are very clean, meaning there are city workers who are constantly picking trash that is
tossed on the ground. The buildings are very tastefully placed and beautifully designed. An
example of a very nice street in Beverly Hills would be the famous Rodeo Drive. On that street

there is an endless amount of stores that are owned by very famous and respected clothing
brands. An average citizen might feel very intimidated walking on that street because the clothes
in the stores are very difficult to afford. One might ask how are some areas so appealing, while
others are very mediocre? It is all funded by the taxes that are collected from the people that
reside in these appealing areas. The neighborhoods that are beautiful and clean contain people
that are wealthy, especially Beverly Hills. The rich society pays higher taxes that are drawn by
the government to fund all of these glamorous parts of the city. Other neighborhoods do not have
the luxury to pay money in order to improve the community. The less money residents of a
particular area have, the worse the area becomes. For example, the economy of a bad
neighborhood cannot maintain clean streets because it would cost more tax money to hire street
cleaners. That money is not accessible because there is no money to collect from the people that
are less fortunate. This shows how broken the system is and the negative outcomes that come
from it.
The people that reside in Beverly Hills also affect the atmosphere of this area. Their
luxurious lifestyles make it an elitist city where an average citizen might feel very uncomfortable
being surrounded by all the riches. The wealthy residents are able to afford many assets that
others cannot. Going back to Rodeo Drive, the stores are only meant for the elite. The clothes are
highlighted with the bright lights inside the stores making a person thats walking along want to
go in and buy the clothes. The prices are a barrier that wealthy people can overcome, leaving the
people who are not as fortunate to be defeated by this barrier. This can give an average citizen a
sense of jealousy because they are left out of all the great luxuries in life. While there is a
physiological issue, a bigger problem arises. In order to feel rich, people who cannot afford these
luxurious buy it on credit. This temporarily allows people to enjoy the luxurious that they have

purchases and makes them feel wealthy, however it immediately places them under debt. The
horrible feeling of being separated from society caused by an outdated asset urges people to
always upgrade. It is almost as if the middle and lower classes are competing with the rich. The
problem with this competition is that the rich are able to pay for their assets, however the people
who cannot afford it are forced into bigger debt causing both economical and personal issues.
This leads to a very big gap between the elite and the middle and lower classes. The wealthy
continue to fund their extravagant lifestyles, while the rest of society has to pay of their debt.
This lowers the standard of living for the less fortunate because they cannot spend more money
on themselves. That money has to be used for paying off the debt, in some cases forcing people
to downgrade some of their assets. This in return brings out anger towards the rich because it
seems unfair that some people are able to live happy lives while others are forced to live in in
worse conditions. People want the lives of the rich because there is this false notion that money
is happiness. However many people dont realize that money doesnt solve all problems.
In this world it is impossible to live without money. Everything requires money,
including all essential factors that a human being cannot survive without. The more money a
person has, the easier life becomes. However that does not mean life is flawless when one is
wealthy. One of the biggest misconceptions in life is that money brings happiness and power.
There is no doubt that an individual with money is happier than a person who lacks money.
Buying sports cars, expensive clothes, and big houses can bring joy into a persons life.
However, happiness with money does not necessarily mean a life full of wonders and lavish
lifestyles. The biggest flaw with Beverly Hills is that it is a city full of glamour, but underneath
that glamour, are the same societal issues that other people in this world have. There are still
problems that occur in wealthy households. However people who do not have a lot of money do

not realize this and immediately loose self-confidence, wishing that they could be part of the elite
society. This gives wealthy individuals the notion that they have superiority over others. This
feeling of superiority also comes from the assets that people have. A person with a Ferrari seeing
another person driving a rusty Toyota can immediately think I am better thank you. However
the assets that an individual has, does not define the characteristics of a person. This false
materialistic way of thinking has become normal in this world. The only way to truly define a
person is through his or her actions. Money does not bring power in this world. It can give many
opportunities but power cannot be bought. Power in this world is earned by the deeds a person
does and the characteristics that fuel those deeds. Everyone is equal in this world, regardless of
the socioeconomic status.
Society has evolved into a world that identifies people by the amount of money one has.
It has become a system that puts people into a specific category. This has created a division in
society that involves people living in separated areas. The wealthy have a strong influence on the
areas they reside in. Beverly Hills is an area that the wealthy have affected by making it a clean
and beautiful area, which has created an atmosphere that exclusively appeals to the elitists and
can be intimidating to an average citizen, which in turn gives the wealthy a false sense of
superiority. It might seem unfair and discouraging to many people in this world, but this is how
the system has evolved.
