Ghanshyam Srivastava has been appointed as the chief executive of SBI Yangon branch.
The Yangon branch is the 54th foreign branch of State Bank of India (SBI).
2. Which currency has officially become a member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)s basket of global reserve
currencies___Yuan.
Note:
With this, yuan has joined the U.S. dollar, the euro, the yen and British pound in the IMFs Special Drawing Rights
(SDR) basket.
3. How many rupees have been declared in the Income Disclosure Scheme (IDS)___65 thousand 250 crore rupees.
Note:
The scheme was announced by the government in June this year with an aim to bring out black money from the
domestic economy.
Those disclosing assets under the IDS will have to pay 45% tax with penalty.
4. Indias GDP growth forecast for 2016, as per World Banks latest report South Asia Economic Focus___7.6%.
Note:
The fiscal deficit in previous year (April to August) had stood at 66.5% of the Budget estimates.
Fiscal deficit is the gap between expenditure and revenue for the entire current fiscal has been pegged at Rs 5.33
lakh crore (3.5% of GDP).
5. The 2016 World Economic Forum (WEF) India Economic Summit has been inaugurated in ___New Delhi.
Note:
The 2-day summit will focus on issues like digital transformation and regional economic integration.
At least 600 participants from a little over 30 countries will take part.
The theme of the summit is Fostering an Inclusive India through Digital Transformation.

Note:
The Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has chaired the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting at the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) headquarters in Washington DC, United States.
The CRA is a framework for the provision of support through liquidity and precautionary instruments in response
to actual or potential short-term balance of payments pressure.
10. Who has been appointed as the Chairman and CEO of the Jammu and Kashmir(J&K)bank___Parvez Ahmed.

14. The Government of India (GoI) has donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation to help it in its welfare work for the people
of South Africa__Rs. 9.3 million.
Note:
The Nelson Mandela Foundation was established in 1999 after the then President Nelson Mandela stepped down
as the President of South Africa.
15. Indias rank in the 2016 Global Hunger Index (GHI)____97th.
Note:
The Global Hunger Index (GHI) is a multidimensional statistical tool used to describe the state of countries hunger
situation.
The Index is released by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
16. The National Seismic Programme (NSP) has been launched in Odisha by ___ Dharmendra Pradhan.
Note:
The purpose of NSP is to undertake a fresh appraisal in all sedimentary basins across India.
The survey project will be completed by March 2019.

Oliver Hart (British-born) and Bengt Holmstrom (Finland) have won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic
Sciences for their contributions to contract theory, shedding light on how contracts help people deal with
conflicting interests.
Both of them will share 8 million kronor (about $930,000).

21. Andhra Pradesh government has releases how many rupees under AMRUT scheme__Rs. 99.62 crore.
Andhra Pradesh government has released Rs. 99.62 crore to AP-Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development
Corporation Limited (AP-UFIDC) for the year 2016-17 for works taken up under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation
and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
The scheme is being implemented in 33 cities and towns in the State.
22. The World Bank will provide aid to Bangladesh over the next three years to fight child malnutrition_____US $1 billion.
Note:
The announced investment will support programs to ensure sufficient child nutritionand include a conditional
cash transfer scheme targeted at six lakh poor families in 43 sub-districts.
The Banks new announced assistance is almost a 100% increase in investment compared to previous 3-year
period.
23. Who has become the first Indian lender to complete a banking transaction using blockchain technology____ICICI Bank.

The Index has been released by the Japan-based Mori Memorial Foundations Institute for Urban Strategies.
Mumbai, the only Indian city, ranked 39th on the list of the worlds leading global cities for business, innovation
and culture.
25. The loan amount has been sanctioned by World Bank for construction of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC)III project of India____ $650 million.
Note:
The Government of India (GoI) has signed $650 million loan agreement with the World Bank (WB) for
construction of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC)-III project.
The EDFC-III will build the 401 km Ludhiana-Khurja section which goes through Punjab, Haryana and Uttar
Pradesh.
26. TRAI has recommended to the imposition penalty on Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea cellular for allegedly denying
interconnectivity to Reliance Jio___Rs. 3,050 crore.
Note:
TRAI has found the three companies to be non-compliant with license conditions regarding giving interconnection
to Reliance Jio customers.
It also noted that denial of interconnection by these operators to RJio appears to be with the ulterior motive to
stifle competition and is anti-consumer.
27. The Union Government has formally granted a licence to Europes third-biggest oil company BP to set up pumps in India
___3,500 petrol Pumps.
Note:
BP has been granted the licence to market Motor Spirit (petrol) and High-Speed Diesel(diesel).
State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC) owns 25,363 petrol pumps, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) 13,802
stations and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) 13,439 outlets.
28. Foreign Portfolio Investors have pulled out nearly how many crore from the Indian debt markets in the first two weeks of
October____ Rs. 6,000 crore.
Note:
They have pumped in just 180 crore rupees in the stock markets during the period under review, according to the
data available with depositories.
The outflow comes following a net inflow of 9,789 crore rupees in the month of September.
29. The State Bank of India (SBI) has declared as its 5th zone in North East ____Silchar.

Earlier, Silchar was under Guwahati zone and it was tough on the part of the bank to address the complaints and
issues of the customers with such a difficult terrain.
The bank has 736 branches across North East together with 3,000 ATMs and 3,000 customer service points for
customer facilitation.
30. The GST Council reached a consensus on the way the states would be compensated for any loss of revenue after

The Global Gender Gap report is an annual benchmarking exercise that measures progress towards parity
between men and women in four areas: educational attainment, health and survival, economic opportunity and
political empowerment.
33. Biotech-KISAN scheme has been launched to empower ______small and women farmers.

The purpose of the initiative is to connect farmers, scientist and science institution across the country.
The scheme also aims to address individual problem of the smallholding farmers by providing solution.
The scheme will be implemented in 15 agro-climatic zones of India in phased manner with the objective of linking

US, Sweden and former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Note:
India has been ranked 133rd out of 183 countries in the 2016 Global Youth Development Index (YDI).

globally.

Note:
He has been elected as President of The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the year 2016-17 at the 77th
annual general meeting of the INS.

He was Chinas Ambassador to Canada from 2014 to 2016.

(IFG) at the world governing bodys congress in Tokyo, Japan.
He will succeed Bruno Grandi.
The headquarters of IFG is at Lausanne, Switzerland.

Government.

Mittal becomes the first Indian to be elected as GSMA Chairman.

mobile ecosystem.

Mariano Rajoy is the newly re-elected Prime Minister of Spain, after winning a parliamentary vote.

Nazki was the chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Bihar and also headed the committee set up by the

Note:
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has ppointed New Zealands Jason McCracken as its Chief Executive
Officer (CEO).
He will replace Kelly Fairweather, who is leaving for the International Tennis Federation after six years in the
role.
