This document analyzes student performance data from two environmental issue assessments. For the first assessment, most students felt confident but some scored lower in one section due to lack of coverage or unclear rubric. For the second, one student scored 18/30 due to needing more instruction while most were proficient. However, one student who scored 100% lacked confidence. The action plan includes differentiating instruction, providing extra support to struggling students, reworking rubrics, and boosting student confidence.

Environmental Issue Essay Data Analysis & Application
Fact Finding:
Hypotheses:
Action Plan:
21/27 students felt confident in their
personal perception of success.
Compared to the pre-assessment, many
students confidence increased. I should have better differentiated for students who are struggling with the content.
Students, on average, scored lower on
part one of the standard than part two.
I did not cover the material in depth
enough for the students to score well. The rubric was difficult to understand, which made it harder for students to do well on this section.
Student number nine scored a fifty
percent on the assessment.
This student missed school often; I
should have sent instruction home. I could have worked more one on one with this student.
I will differentiate better with
students who are struggling. I will distribute perception surveys more often to see what students feel that they are struggling with so that I can help them more. Over the next few weeks, we will do review over this area, and discuss ways to improve on it. I will redo the rubric so that it is easier to follow along I will provide more opportunities to meet with me to discuss issues they are having with the rubrics. This student will have meet times with me to review the materials. Parent meeting will be held to see what is happening. (This may take place with the principal due to the frequency of absences.

Hypotheses:
Action Plan:
Student 9 earned 18/30 on this
assessment.
67% of the students were 100%
proficient on this assessment.
4 students earned less than 80% on this
assessment.
This student needs more direct
instruction. I need to review more in depth with this student prior to assessments.
I taught a majority of the class well, so
that they met the standards. I should have focused more attention on other students, splitting them into small groups or more one on one time. I did not provide these students enough practice material. I did not differentiate enough to reach these students.
Student number 15, although receiving
100%, did not feel that they were successful in their learning.
I did not give adequate feedback for this
student. I did not work with them enough to boost their confidence.
I will work with student nine
more one on one. We will work on an action plan, where we will review work together, before or after school. I will also be emailing this students parents; with things they could work on at home, and with updates on student achievement. I will be incorporating more group work time, as well as stations that focus in on areas of struggle for students. I will change groups, so that they are more heterogeneous. These students will be put into a specific group, that I will work with more closely. I will provide more scaffolded lessons for these students. This student will receive more positive feedback from me. I will discuss their success, and see if I can determine where this student feels incompetent, and develop a plan to boost their confidence.
