and implementation; presentation design and techniques; and integration among these applications.

Microsoft Office.
2. Microsoft Office is used around the country and it's mainly what most companies use
daily.

very beneficial to my career and I enjoyed learning a lot from this class.

Project Design
Course Number PS 2003

This course will provide an opportunity for the student to facilitate a process for identifying a specific
problem in an actual industry or business environment relevant to the student's specialty area. The
student will outline a formal plan of action for identifying the problem. The plan must include a broad scan
of the specific area/operation selected including the names and titles of the individuals surveyed for input.
The product will be the development of a formal needs assessment which identifies deficiencies or areas
of improvement. The needs should be prioritized based on feasibility, cost, and urgency.
The three core competencies that I learned in this course:
1. The purpose of the project--We were asked to choose a company that had a problem within the
company. We were asked to research the problem and find a solution to the problem. I chose to
help a business that I am associated with and the problem with advertising and their website
production. The problem does exist and I did have a purpose for the project.

2. Research Methods and Procedures--I used the internet to search the web because I wanted to
see and research how advertising could boost your business. Every website I found talked about
proper advertising and how it could benefit your company. Not only did I research the internet, I
used a survey just to see what type of advertisement people were used to and the type that
people liked. It's amazing the findings when you put out a survey.
3. Analysis and Findings--I did some thorough research on advertising, handed out some surveys,
and found a good web developer to assist with updating the website. With my findings, I learned
that advertising can and will boost your client's interest in your business. You must have the right
advertising and the best website that will spark your client's eyes.

Implication of Technology on Society

Course Number COMS 3053
This course explores ethical issues faced by members of a complex technological society and by
professionals in a technology-related field. Topics covered include professional ethics, ethical decision
making, privacy issues, intellectual property, and technology issues relating to software development,
productivity, and computer crime. Extensive research on current issues is expected.
The three core competencies that I learned in this course:
1. In this course one of the competencies that I learned that people, companies, and institutions feel
the depth of technological change. For instance, media often report that intense use of the
Internet increases the risk of isolation, alienation, and withdrawal from society, but available
evidence shows that the Internet neither isolates people nor reduces their sociability; it increases
sociability, civic engagement, and the intensity of family and friendship relationships, in all
cultures.
2. Another thing that I found out about this course is that globally, time spent on social networking
sites surpassed time spent on e-mail in November 2007, and the number of social networking
users surpassed the number of e-mail users in July 2009. Today, social networking sites are the
preferred platforms for all kinds of activities, both business and personal, and sociability has
dramatically increased but it is a different kind of sociability. Most Facebook users visit the site
daily, and they connect on multiple dimensions, but only on the dimensions they choose. The
virtual life is becoming more social than the physical life, but it is less a virtual reality than a real
vitality, facilitating real-life work and urban living.
3. Finally, the Internet and the Web constitute the technological infrastructure of the global network
society, and the understanding of their logic is a key field of research. It is only scholarly research
that will enable us to cut through the myths surrounding this digital communication technology
that is already a second skin for young people, yet continues to feed the fears and the fantasies of
those who are still in charge of a society that they barely understand.

Applied Principles of Personnel Management

Course Number PS 3133
This course supports the needs of professionals whose career fields require competencies in
human resources/personnel management. The focus of the course is on the practical
application, essential theories, and process of personnel management from the perspective

of a generalist. Course content will include the essential aspects of recruitment, selection,
training, legal rights and responsibilities, compensation and appraisal.
The three core competencies that I learned in this course:
1. The first competency that I learned in this class is Personnel Management is
concerned with managing people at work. Such people or personnel does not simply
refer to rank and file employees or unionized labour but also includes higher
personnel and non-unionized labour. In other words, it covers all the levels of
personnels, including blue-collared employees (craftsmen, foremen, operatives and
labourers) and white-collared employees (professional, technical and kindred
workers, managers, officials and proprietors, clerical workers and sales workers). The
shape and form that personnel administrative activity takes, however, may differ
greatly from company to company and to be effective, it must be tailored to fit the
individual needs of each organization.
2. Second, it is concerned with employees, both as individuals as well as a group, the
aim being to get better results with their collaboration and active involvement in the
organization's activities i.e. it is a function or process or activity aiding and directing
workmen and women in maximizing their personnel contribution.
3. Third, Personnel Management is concerned with helping the employees to develop
their potentials and capacities to the maximum possible extent, so that they may
derive great satisfactions from their job. This task takes into consideration four basic
elements, namely, the capacities, interests opportunities and personally of the
employee.
