Kathleen Bowen
Human Resources Director
Lamar Consolidated ISD
3911 Ave I Rosenberg, TX 77471

Dear Kathleen Bowen:

I am writing to express my interest in becoming employed within Lamar Consolidated School District as an
Elementary educator. This December, I anticipate full certification with TEA as I have passed the TExES EC-6
generalist, PPR, and ESL supplemental assessments and expect to graduate from Houston Baptist University
with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with ESL certification.
LCISD is of particular interest to me because of my history and excellent experience in the district as a
substitute teacher and K-12 student. Also, LCISD is my home district, and it is important to me to educate the
students in my community. Even more, seeing the district grow excites me to become part of this thriving
district.
Currently, I am completing an amazing and rich learning experience as a student teacher at T.L. Pink
Elementary. This placement lasts one semester, half of my time is being spent with a Kindergarten class and
the next half will be spent with a 5th grade class. I am eager to apply the knowledge and experience I have
gained from student teaching and substituting to a classroom in LCISD. Specifics to my other skills and
experiences can be found in my resume attached to this letter.
I feel that LCISD would be the perfect district for me to start my teaching career. I would like the opportunity
to interview for a position, talk with you about current job availabilities, or hiring plans for the 2017-2018
school year. I will follow up this letter with an email to you within the next two weeks. I would be glad to
provide you with any additional information needed. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Ms. Marisa Jordan Martinez
