EDUG 520 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Statement of Purpose
As an educator, I strive to create a space where students feel free to express their
creativity and grow intellectually. I aim to create an environment that builds
relationships and where feeling successful is an everyday occurrence. I strive to
continuously be mindful and reflective to continue to grow professionally for the
benefit of my students.

Procedures

Entering the classroom- Students will leave their backpacks on the

hooks outside and line up with their homework folder. As they enter
the classroom they will immediately go in quietly and make a circle
around the classroom for a morning mindfulness exercise.
Teacher Attention Signals- I will have a chime, jingle bells, and a pitch
pipe at the front of the classroom. All of these will be used to get the
students attention, depending on the activity they are currently
engaged in. For example, if it is a silent activity I can use the jingle
bells or pitch pipe. If it is a noisier activity I will use the chime since it is
louder and can cut through students talking.
Transitions- I will be using different song clips as musical transitions.
Each song will alert the students of what they need to do for the next
activity, without me having to say it.
Restrooms and Water- I will use non-verbal hand signals that the
students will need to use to ask me if they can go to the restroom.
Once I have acknowledged their hand signal, they are to go get the
bathroom pass from the wall and place it on their desk so I can
remember where they are.
Visitors to the room- If a visitor enters the room, I will have a student
who will go to greet them and inform them what the class is currently
doing. This job position will be rotated weekly.

pencils, etc.)
- Students will be cheered on by the class when they are called on
- Pass out raffle tickets and whoever is pulled gets to pull from a prize box
with pencils and different school items
