1. What is the topic of your lesson?

a. The topic of my lesson is learning the qualities of being a good citizen
while camping.
2. Why are you teaching this lesson? What is your rationale for teaching it?
a. I am teaching this lesson to strengthen my students knowledge of being a
good citizen by showing my students that you can show qualities of being
a good citizen in many different ways. This lesson in particular I am
showing that you can be a good citizen when you are camping.
3. What is your Teaching Behavior Focus? Why did you choose this?
a. My main teaching focus is to align tasks with learning goals. I want
students to continue to strengthen their knowledge about what a good
citizen is and the qualities a good citizen has. To ensure that my teaching
behavior focus is met I will ask the students questions throughout the
lesson to ensure that the learning goals are being met.
4. Why did you design your instruction in this lesson the way that you did? Why did
you choose this way of teaching the lesson (e.g., Was the idea from a methods
course? From your mentor teacher? Another source?)
a. I designed this instruction for this lesson the way that I did because I have
noticed that my mentor teacher uses a similar technique whenever she
teaches during the camping unit. I wanted my students to be aware of the
method because they are used to structure and I did not want them to be
confused.
5. As you are thinking through this lesson, what do you believe will be the most
challenging part of this lesson for you when you teach it? Why?
a. I think the most challenging part will be the questioning. I hope my
students will be able to answer the questions I ask them throughout the
lesson. However, if I notice that they are struggling in some areas I will
adjust my teaching.

6. How will you know if your learning outcomes for the students are met
successfully?
a. I will know if my learning outcomes for the students are met successfully
by assessing my students throughout the lesson by questioning. I will also
assess them through their sentence that they will write independently.
7. How will your classroom management support the learning outcomes?
a. I will use the strategies my mentor teacher uses to ensure that the
students stay on task and get the most out of this learning experience. By
using my mentor teachers classroom management strategies, the
students are aware of what is expected of them and are able to learn the
material with limited number of interruptions.
8. List 1-3 areas which you would like for your observer to pay particular attention.
Why do you want your observer to focus on these areas?
a. I would like for my observer to pay close attention to my classroom
management skills throughout this lesson. Since I have had more
opportunities to teach I feel like I have had a better opportunity to
strengthen these skills.
9. Is there anything else you would like your observer to know before the
observation?
a. I hope my observer enjoys this lesson and I appreciate any feedback she
may have for me!
