Objective: To conduct research on the hidden
knowledge of ancient indigenous Indian arts
like varmam, kalari and other related arts.

Native of Kanyakumari District - a hub for
varmam treatment in Tamil Nadu.
His first varmam teacher is his mother.
Started learning varmam since 1978 - from the
age of 16.
Learnt from about 70 varmam asans.

areas related to varmam science.

Was awarded Ph.D. from University of Kerala,
Kariavattam for deciphering 10th century
manuscript.
Has done research on nearly 120 manuscripts
related to varmam.
Has published more than 200 articles about
varmam.

Has guided 3 Ph.D. and 17 M.Phil. students in
the field of Tamil.
Has written 5 books about Tamil literature.
Has published about 150 articles about Tamil
language.

In the year 2003, has completed a UGC
(University Grant Commission) funded Major
Research Project entitled An Esoteric Art of
Varmam and its unification.
Based on nomination as Varmam Trainee by

Directorate of Indian Medicine and
Homoeopathy, has trained more than 860
medical officers working in Tamil Nadu
Government Hospitals and Primary Health
Centres.

Has served as resource person in varmam for
Reorientation Training (ROT) programs in
Government Siddha Medical Colleges of
Chennai and Thirunelveli.
Has served as resource person in varmam for

Refresher Course of Physical Education
conducted by UGC Staff Academic College,
Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore.

Since 1996, started teaching varmam under
gurukula method.
Later converted into class room training.
Currently has trained about 1,000 doctors and
5,000 non doctors.

Varmalogy is a systematic study of vital points (i.e.

varmam points) on body.
E.g. Each varmam has its own width, length, depth.
Right vibration in the vital points (varmams) will

promote health.

Medical varmalogy refers to rhythmic tuning of

varmams by varmam experts for curing
various diseases like nerve disorders, internal
organ disorders, arthritis, back pain, diabetes,

Treatment is done as a charitable activity.
Only Indian Rupees Rs.150/- (US $3.00) is
collected per month.
Patients can have eight sittings of varmam
treatment per month.
Patient registered in one centre can avail
treatment in any of the 18 centres.
NOTE: Our institute does not receive grant / aid from State or Central Government for
running our therapy centres.

Our course of action:
Since British invasion, it is dark period for medical

varmalogy.
No research or experience about medical
varmalogy has been documented for the past 200
years.
Our course of action is to create awareness about
medical varmalogy first to Indian people and then
to international audience.

Creating awareness about varmam by publishing
quarterly magazine since Jan 2007.
Conducting medical varmalogy training to both
medical professionals and non-medical
professionals.
Started conducting medical varmalogy training
outside Tamil Nadu also.
Recently launched free camp of varmam medical
care for special children parents and care givers
training workshop.

Attended by 480 medical professionals.
It was done to showcase the efficacy of
varmam therapy.
10 papers about varmam therapy were
presented.
Planning to conduct International Conference
on Varmalogy in the year 2012.
