Reflection

In the fourth week of my teaching practice in GEMS school, it was fun and
exciting for me, but I still face a challenge to apply the experiment in the
classroom. So I try to focused on how my MST can do the experiment in the
classroom because as primary students dont allow them to go to the lab. So
I note my MST let all the students sit on the carpet and then call group by
group to apply the experiment to the group. She let everyone to do the
experiment.
In this week, it was difficult for me because my MST was too much busy for
meeting and prepare for the workshop so she sent for me the plan what I
should cover in this day and I try to apply her plan in each class. For
example, in English class, I let them copy the words on their note, and then I
fix for them. In math class, I teach them multiplication 5 table and give them
a worksheet to complete. But in social study lesson the substitution teacher
apply the plan for this day. To tell you the truth, I think this help me to
develop my teaching skills also to know how I deal with grade 2 students,
especially in privet school.
In this week I was euphoric when my MST do outdoor activity. She takes the
student and goes out in a playground under the sun and shows the children
their shadows, and she let each one draw themselves with their shadows

(see Appendix 1). I think this is interesting because I note each one was
happy with this activity and this way help the students to stick the
information in their mind. Skinner proves that learning by doing help the
children to learn in an easy way (Reese, n.d.)

My lesson was perfect, and I apply all my planning for this lesson. Actually, I
apply effective strategy to control on the students this help me to manage
my time and apply my objective (see Appendix 2). But I should do
experiments with the students so next time I will focus to do experiment with
the students.

I learn that I should apply outdoor activity to take student attention and to
break daily routine. I think this is the best way which my MST do to engage
the students and gain their attention.

There is undeniable that, we should let each one do the experiment to let
them understand by themselves. But we should do that step by step I mean
call group by group to come and do it. That will help the teacher to save her
time at the same time avoid the misbehavior. Also is better if we use KWL

charts (see appendix 3) KWL charts help students to be active thinkers while
they read (Carr & Ogle, 1987), giving them specific things to look for and
having them reflect on what they learned when they are finished reading
(Using KWL in the Classroom, 2000)
