Stitch Guide:
K1 (f&b): Knit 1 stitch into the front and back of the next
stitch. This is a great way to make increases!
Rose Instructions:
(Here are two different ways to knit them)
From the bottom up:
1. Using 2 strands of yarn, CO 10 sts, leave a five inch long tail of yarn.
2. Knit 10 sts.
3. P 10 sts.
4. *K1, K 1(f&b). Repeat from *4 more times. 15 sts are on the needle
5. P 15 sts.
6. *K1, K1 (f&b). Repeat from * 6 times more, K the last stitch. 22 sts are on the needle
7. *K1, K 1(f&b). Repeat from * 10 mores time. 33 sts are on the needle
8.

P 33 sts.

9.

K 33 sts.

10. BO all sts. Leave the tail, you can remove it after felting.
11. To shape the flower, roll work to form a spiral and sew together with needle and t he 5 inch yarn tail.
12. Follow regular felting instructions. Remember to shape the roses after they have felted by gently
pulling/stretching the petals. If the bloom opens up too much in the wash you can use a needle and
matching thread to reshape/tighten up the rose again.

From the top down (my favorite):

1. Using two strands of yarn, CO 33 sts.
2. K 1 row
3. K1, K2tog. Repeat ending with a K st. 22 sts on needle
4. P 22
5. K1, K2tog. Repeat ending with a K st. 15 sts on needle
6. P 15 row
7. K1, K2tog. Repeat ending with a K st. 10 sts on needle
8. P 10 across the row
9. BO all sts. Leave the tail, you can remove it after felting.
10. To shape the flower, roll work to form a spiral and sew together with needle and the 5 inch yarn tail.
Weave loose end from the CO row into the flower.
11. Follow regular felting instructions. Remember to shape the roses after they have felted by gently
pulling/stretching the petals. If the bloom opens up too much in the wash you ca n use a needle and
matching thread to reshape/tighten up the rose again.
Leaf Instruction:
1. CO 50 sts.
2. In stockinette stitch (K 1 row, P 1 row), work 60 rows.
3. BO all sts.
4. Follow felting instructions.
5. After work has been felted, cut out leaf shapes. They do
not need to be exactly the same size. Remember, nature
is not perfect!
6. Throw the leaves back into your lingerie bag/pillow case
and run through the washer again. This will make the
ends curl up sweetly.
Embellishing your work:
The felted roses and leaves are thick enough that you will
not need to have your sewing stitches go all the way through the fabric.
You shouldnt see your threads. Use your matching thread and sewing needle to attach the flowers to
your work. After you have all the flowers on, sew the leaves on. I place the leaves under the rose. Feel
free to sew a stitch into a leafs center if it needs to be tacked down. Weave your thread ends into the
roses and snip the tails off.

Tweak This Pattern:

If you use bulkier yarns and/or larger needles you will get a bigger bloom! OR go in the opposite direction for smaller blooms.

Felting:
Felt purse by placing it into an old pillowcase and knotting the top or using a lingerie bag. Machine wash
in a hot/cold cycle with detergent. The first cycle or two may be a little stinky because wet wool smells a
bit like a wet dog. Sorry, that is simply the way it is! You will need to repeat this process a few times until
the desired felt look is achieved.
Remember to shape the roses after they have felted by gently pulling/stretching the petals. If the bloom
opens up too much in the wash you ca n use a needle and matching thread to reshape/tighten up the
rose again.

Viola!!!
