Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of digital tools and resources to

systematically collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results,

communicate findings, and implement appropriate interventions to improve instructional
practice and maximize student learning. (ISTE 2h)
Reflection
In standard 2.8 data analysis modeling and facilitation of digital tools to
collect and dissect student achievement, interpret results and speak about the
findings are all important in development of a school improvement plan. All
strategies of data analysis, disaggregation, strategic planning all of which will
maximize student achievement and performance which is stated in standard 2.8.
I created a data overview using the data inventory previous conducted. The data
overview provided a clear picture of the performance of the students in all areas,
variables that may have effects on student performance, and growth and
development within 6 years. Ive learned many skills while conducting the
schoolwide study. I learned how to collect data from multiple resources, break
down data, create visuals, and apply to show any growth and development of a
school. I was able to see slight improvement utilizing the data and visual;
however, the data overview gave a great picture of the direction in which the
school should be going and areas of extreme need.
The data overview is a very powerful and beneficial tool. I feel that the
process and artifact could be improved greatly. One thing that I would like to
improve on as far as the process is building a stronger connection with
administration on the research conducted, findings, and other means of available

data. I would also like to include more departments within the research or data
collection. I feel that if each department had an opportunity to create and conduct
their own research, findings would be more meaningful and plans of action could
be more aligned with standards. If I had an opportunity to enhance the artifact, I
would collect data from more resources, I would create more comparisons, and
collect more data from stakeholders. All of which would be done and beneficial to
get a clear picture of the schools academic performance by eliminating outside
entities and factors.
The data overview provided insight on the performance as a school. I
know that it had great impacts on school improvements, for the leadership team
used the data to create learning targets and smart goals for each department.
The SWOT analysis was also used in that the opportunities suggested and
communicated by the teams was put into actions. The data collected from many
resources was also presented to each department further impacting the faculty.
Each department became responsible for data collection. Within our weekly
professional developments, the departments used data overview, department
smart goals, other assessment tools and practices and interpreted growth and
development of student learning.
Professional development data analysis has been embedded within
Ballard-Hudsons daily weekly routine. Teachers are responsible for collecting
classroom data, collaborating with departments, and conducting weekly
conferencing with students. In weekly conferences teachers express to students
areas of strengths, weaknesses, and improvements. The data collected weekly
also drives instruction. Weekly assessments must be displayed on lessons

reflecting data usage. I feel the data inventory and overview had significant
impacts and can be assessed as powerful.
