The main goal of this class is to improve computer literacy. Throughout this course, I
have realized that there are many levels to understanding computers. Therefore, my definition of
computer literacy may be different than others. However, I think it is fair to say that I have
achieved a basic understanding of computers during the course of this class and therefore have
achieved computer literacy.
I learned a few things while using Microsoft Word in class. I already had pretty good
knowledge about the program, but I was also able to attain new information. Many of the tips
that I learned were actually short cuts for the things that I was already doing. Also, I learned
simple tasks, like how to add a header and a footer, and other simple tasks.
While working in Microsoft Excel I learned much more. I was always afraid of Excel and
never really understood it. Fortunately, in class I was able to conquer my fears. All of the tips and
tricks that we learned about formulas in Excel really helped me to learn how to thoroughly use
the program. I would say that I have learned the most about this program throughout the course.
Microsoft Publisher was another program that I was afraid of before this class. I enjoyed
working with my classmates with this project because it allowed me to figure out and learn the
program with my peers. I think Publisher is an important tool because you can create almost any
document with this program. It can be used in almost any job field, which means that
understanding it could be imperative in the job field. Therefore, I am grateful to have the
opportunity to further understand the program.

Microsoft PowerPoint is also very important in the job field. It is a crucial skill to be able
to present information in an organized, interesting way. I had a very strong understanding of this
program going into the class. However, utilizing it along with Excel and Word in our research
projects was very interesting to do.
It is fair to say that Photoshop has a special place in my heart! Although we have a very
strong love-hate relationship, I am always a photographer before anything else. I had a proficient
understanding of this program before this class, but it seems that photoshop has many different
ways to do the exact same thing. I have learned many new ways to do tasks that I was already
doing, which has helped my skills grow a lot.
Overall, I have proved that I have learned many new skills and tricks throughout all of
these programs. Through this class and learning from both my peers and my professor, I think I
have achieved a level of computer literacy. As someone who was afraid of many of these
programs at first, I am happy to see my progress with these programs that will be crucial skills in
the job field. I will be able to put myself above my peers that do not have these skills.
