EVALUATION
Give yourself one point for 1 or 2 in responses to statements:
1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 11, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 24;
and one point for 4 or 5 in response to the statements:
3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20 and 25.
TOTAL POINTS: ___24________

21 to 25 You have great entrepreneurial potential. With such potential, its surprising you
havent gone into business already.

16 to 20 This result shows you have definite entrepreneurial potential. However, your
success in business could depend on the abilities you show and the resources you have
available.

11 to 15 This result puts you in an intermediate zone. You are probably capable of going
into business, but you would have to put a lot of effort and perseverance into it. Outside
help and follow-up in the form of advice and encouragement would be an asset to you.
Some adjustment might also be necessary.

6 to 10 Your entrepreneurial potential seems fairly weak. You would certainly have to
reconsider some of your opinions, attitudes and behavior patterns.

1 to 5 Be realistic. It would probably be difficult for you to evolve into the business
world at present. You should become seriously informed about the restraints and demands
of the entrepreneurs career.

SCORING
Total your score in each column.
1 point - Not Developed
2 points - Quite Beginner
3 points - Very Capable

Then tally up each column for a total score.

If you scored 37-48: You have done a great job developing and balancing many of the skills
required to be a successful entrepreneur. Make a note of the skills in which you scored the
lowest and keep in mind that you will either need to develop them or find a partner or employees
who are adept in those areas.
If you scored 25-36: You are very capable in some areas and a beginner in others. Developing a
good balance of entrepreneurial skills is a key to covering as many bases in business as you can.
You are not expected to be able to do everything, but having some capability in each of these
areas is your best bet for success.
If you scored 13-24: You may have to work on some areas before starting on your
entrepreneurial path. Identify the skills which need work, then brainstorm ways you could
develop those areas (i.e.: taking a course, doing volunteer work, reading a book, etc.) However,
if you are very capable in even one or two areas, you could be a valuable asset to someone elses
entrepreneurial team.
If you scored 0-12: You are probably just beginning to consider the skills you will require to be
an entrepreneur. Try not to feel overwhelmed by the number of skills you need. Many areas
overlap and can be learned through everyday tasks like interacting with others or balancing your
checkbook. Pick two or three skills to start working on, and set some goals to keep track or your
progress.

Total Score: Section A + Section B = ____70__________
After you consult your score below, give it to your closest friends or family members and ask
them to complete the assessment based on what they believe to be true about YOU. Tell them
clearly that you would appreciate their honest answers, because your goal is to understand how
others perceive you.
Note of caution:
Promise yourself not to get angry if you dont like your respondents answers. Never challenge
your friends (or family members) about the views expressed in this assessment. They are doing
you a big favour, and this is not the time to criticize them. Remember, you asked for their
honesty, so appreciate it. Cherish their views, as they are a valuable compass for how others
view your personality.
If your test score is:
0-99: Your communication skills need serious and urgent attention, as they may be one of your
biggest stumbling blocks in personal and/or professional relationships. It is likely that you have
hurt others in the past without even noticing. You may be good with facts and/or data, but
understanding others is not your forte. Perhaps it is not your focus.
The challenge is to develop your emotional communication skills. While those skills may not
appear important at first glance, they are critical for your well-being as well as your personal and
professional fullfilment. Some of the negative experiences you have had in the past may be a
reflection of the awkward manner in which you connect to others. I highly recommend hiring a
coach to help you on this journey. If this is outside of your comfort zone at the moment, I
suggest that you at least read some books on how to establish rapport with people.

100-149: Your communication skills are satisfactory. Sometimes it is a pleasure being around
you, but this is not always the case. You have some basic understanding of human
communication and its tacit conventions. However, you seem to be too focused on yourself to
fully realize the needs of others and to comprehend how your words may affect their behaviour.
I recommend hiring a coach to help you learn more about your personality, specifically your
behavioural triggers, needs, wants, and especially the way in which you relate to people. This is
a critical precondition for giving others the best of you.
150-179: Your genuine concern for peoples well-being and your ability to empathise with their
problems is what makes you special to them. You have the potential to become an outstanding
communicator with a little bit of motivation, commitment and guidance. If you decide to hire a
coach, youll benefit from developing your natural talents further. It would be a tremendous loss
not to use your gifts to your full benefit. Concentrate on where you want to go, not where you
are anchored.
180-200: Congratulations! You are a top-notch communicator. You appear to understand
peoples needs well, and you are a natural pleaser in a social environment. It is easy to connect
to you because you know how to make others feel good about themselves. You are flexible,
open-minded, and a joy to be around. Keep nurturing your communication skills, as they are
possibly your strongest assets. Give me a call and start changing your future!

REFLECTION: THE KEY TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF

Talk to the people who assessed you with this tool. Notice the differences between their
opinions and your own. Ask them to explain their views. Request real life examples and
clarifications to their responses. If your answers match the views of your respondents,
congratulations! You are likely objective in self-observation. If there are opinion differences
between you and your respondents, do not argue. Think about these questions:
a

In what areas do your opinions differ? How often do they differ?

Prevailing disagreements are alarming. You may be out of touch with your own
personality. You will most certainly benefit from working with a coach.
b) How do you explain opinion differences in the assessment of your personality?

If you are blaming your respondents at this point, please dont. They meant no
harm. Accept that you may come across as a person you dont believe you are. It
is not your respondents fault, nor is it yours. You now have valuable information
to make changes, if you feel you need them.
c) Do both of your respondents agree on all issues? If yes, what does this mean to you?
d) If your respondents disagree on some issues, why do you think this might be the case?
Discuss the following questions with your respondents.
a
b
c
d

What are your greatest strengths as a communicator?

What are your greatest weaknesses as a communicator?
Have your communication skills affected your relationships with your family, friends and
colleagues? If so, how?
Where do you see areas of potential communication improvement?

Your interpersonal communication skills are more important than you realize; the way you
connect to others affects every aspect of your life. Are you willing to upgrade your
communication skills, so you can achieve what you want without emotional wounds, friction, and
frustrations?
Remember:
Guidance + Motivation + Practice + Consistency = Mastery
