Ragnar and his brother, Rollo, return from a battle during which Ragnar has visions of the god Odin and his valkyrie
again, Ragnar takes his son Bjorn to Kattegat, for Bjorn's rite of passage. Left at home, Ragnar's wife Lagertha quic
dispatches two would-be rapists. While in Kattegat, Ragnar convinces Rollo that raids to the West are worthwhile an
possible, thanks to new navigational tools, but is rebuked by his ruler, Earl Haraldson, who continues to order raids i
the Baltic; but, also has the upstart, Ragnar, watched. Bjorn and Ragnar visit Floki, Ragnar's friend and a gifted ship
who has been secretly building a new type of longship, which they successfully test. Meanwhile, back at home, Rollo
unwelcome advances on Lagertha. Ragnar has yet another vision of Odin, standing on the shoreline. This convinces
Ragnar to finally move on with his plan.

"Wrath of the Northmen"

After gathering volunteers, Ragnar, Rollo, and Floki embark on an unauthorized raid to the west. Lagertha violently o
to Ragnar's refusal to take her along. Earl Haraldson has the man who attempts to seduce his wife, Siggy, killed, as
the blacksmith who forged Ragnar's anchor. At sea the crew are caught in a storm, which a manic Floki interprets
as Thorproving his ship unsinkable. On land, monks see the ominous sign of a cloud shaped like a dragon. After a te
voyage, Ragnar's men land on the coast of England, near the monastery of Lindisfarne, which they proceed to sack
kill most of the monks and capture the rest to take back as slaves, including the young Athelstan, whom Ragnar prot
from death at Rollo's hands.

"Dispossessed"

Ragnar's warband returns in triumph to Kattegat, where the Earl immediately confiscates the plundered riches excep
one piece per man. Ragnar picks the distraught Athelstan and returns home. The monk's faith and his vow of chastit
perplex Ragnar, but he, nonetheless, gathers useful intelligence about the kingdom of Northumbria. Based on this n
insight, Earl Haraldson authorizes another raid on England. Now accompanied by Lagertha and the Earl's trustee, K
Ragnar re-embarks post-haste, leaving Athelstan to mind the farm and the children. As the Vikings set foot on Englis
they are met by the local sheriff and a handful of armsmen, who invite the newly landed "traders" to meet King Aelle
agrees, but his other warriors' distrust incites a battle in which the Northumbrians are slaughtered.

"Trial"

The Vikings raid a Northumbrian village with little bloodshed, as the villagers are gathered for Mass. During the raid,
Lagertha kills Knut when he tries to rape her. Back on the beach, the raiders defeat a superior Northumbrian force u

Lord Wigea, sent by King Aelle, and return to Kattegat. There, Earl Haraldson has Ragnar, who claims to have killed
arrested and tried at the Thing assembly. The Earl's ploy to bribe Rollo to testify against Ragnar fails, and Ragnar is
acquitted. As the raiders celebrate with Athelstan and Ragnar's children, they are assaulted by armed men. Although
Ragnar's followers prevail, his companion Erik is killed.

"Raid"

When Earl Haraldson's raiders assault Ragnar's settlement, Ragnar, Lagertha, Athelstan, and the children narrowly
in a boat. Ragnar is severely wounded, and Athelstan saves him from drowning. The family hides in Floki's house, w
the shipwright and Helga slowly nurse Ragnar back to health. Meanwhile, Earl Haraldson marries off his daughter, T
a rich old Svealander against his wife, Siggy's, wishes. Aware that the Earl is watching Ragnar's friends, Rollo offers
services to Haraldson. The Earl feigns acceptance, but Siggy's warning to Rollo comes too late; Haraldson has Rollo
and tortured in an unsuccessful attempt to discover Ragnar's whereabouts. As Torstein brings word of this to the still
Ragnar, Ragnar sends Floki to deliver a challenge to the Earl - a single combat with Ragnar.

"Burial of the Dead"

The Earl accepts Ragnar's challenge, and the two meet in single combat. Ragnar kills Haraldson, Rollo kills Svein, a
Siggy kills her hapless son-in-law. After Ragnar becomes the new Earl, he grants his dead foe a chieftain's burial at

pregnant and Siggy accepts Rollo's protection and his proposal to marry an Earl himself. Athelstan asks Ragnar

The Vikings set up a fortified camp, assault the Northumbrian besiegers at night, and capture the king's brother, Aeth

to Aelle, the king finally pays the ransom but swears vengeance upon Ragnar as he watches the raiders depart. Mea

"Sacrifice"

As Lagertha is unable to conceive another son, Ragnar takes his family and followers to the temple at Uppsala to at

that despite his claims, he has not renounced Christianity, and they declare him unfit to be sacrificed to the gods. Le
Ragnar's follower, volunteers in Athelstan's place for this single honour and is sacrificed by King Horik at the climax

"Brother's War"

Rollo battles Ragnar when Jarl Borg and King Horik's men clash. After a bloody rampage, Rollo surrenders to Ragna
admitting he cannot kill him. Ragnar negotiates an unsteady truce between Borg and Horik, then returns to Kattegat
Ragnar's attempts to reconnect with his wife are hampered when Lagertha learns about his affair with Aslaug. Ragn
mourns for his dead daughter. Ragnar's life becomes more complicated when a ship arrives bearing a visibly pregna
Aslaug. Rollo is placed on trial, but is shocked when he is freed by the town lawkeeper, who unknown to the town wa
bribed by Ragnar. Despite Lagertha's enmity towards Aslaug, Ragnar decides to take the princess as his second wif
Humiliated, Lagertha leaves Ragnar and Kattegat. Ragnar attempts to stop her and pleads with her to return but she
him. Ragnar's sorrow is multiplied when Bjorn rejects him and chooses to go with his mother.

Four years have passed and Ragnar finally announces his plans to raid England in the spring. Horik and Borg arrive
lingering resentment forces Ragnar to break the pact with Borg. Ragnar accepts Rollo back into his family, but forbid
from raiding. The Seer tells Ragnar that his sons will be more famous than him. Ragnar and Horik's men depart for E
but a violent storm throws them off course to an unknown land. While exploring, they are ambushed by soldiers and
men are killed including one of Horik's sons. Athelstan saves Ragnar's life during the fight. They learn that they are i
Wessex, which is ruled by King Ecbert, a man described as similar to Ragnar.

Ragnar and his men move deeper into Wessex. Ragnar believes the land's greatest wealth is its rich soil which coul
support a strong Viking colony. Ecbert sends envoys to ask Ragnar to leave and Ragnar returns a message asking w
Ecbert would pay to make that happen. In Hedeby, Scandinavia, Lagertha is now remarried to an abusive husband a
she and Bjorn are unhappy. Bjorn is anxious to go out into the world and prove his manhood, but his stepfather won
it. Meanwhile, Jarl Borg remarries and decides to seize Ragnar's lands in retaliation for Ragnar breaking their truce a
leaving him out of the raids. With all able warriors gone, Rollo rallies the village's women, children and elderly, but B
massacres the villagers and seizes control of Kattegat. Rollo is forced to flee to protect Ragnar and Aslaug's sons.

"Eye for an Eye"

Ragnar meets with King Ecbert, who questions Ragnar's reasons for staying in Wessex and offers a proposal that w
grant him land. Later, back at camp, one of Horik's ships appears and brings word of Jarl Borg's sacking of Kattegat
and his men immediately sail for home. Athelstan chooses to remain with Horik, but is later captured by soldiers afte
hunting party is ambushed. Rollo hides Aslaug, Siggy and the other survivors at a remote homestead and tries to ral
farms and villages to help them retake Kattegat. Ragnar returns home and is able to locate his family. His happiness
soured by Rollo's revelation that they do not have enough men to face Borg's forces. In Wessex, Athelstan is brande
apostate and crucified, but his life is saved when Ecbert arrives and orders him taken off the cross. Ragnar is surpris
when a large group of fighters arrives led by Lagertha and Bjorn. Ragnar is overjoyed to be reunited with his son.

"Answers in Blood"

Concerned that Borg is too heavily entrenched, Ragnar devises a plan to lure him away from the Kattegat. Ragnar a

kept at Ecbert's court, using him to gain insight into 'pagan beliefs'. Athelstan struggles with whether to reclaim his C
beliefs. Lagertha gives Bjorn permission to remain in Kattegat with Ragnar, but chooses to return to her husband. A
messenger arrives and informs Ragnar that after he left, Ecbert's forces slaughtered Horik's men, with Horik and his
barely escaping.

"Unforgiven"

King Horik returns to Kattegat, defeated by King Ecbert and with little of his remaining forces. Hungry for revenge, H

Aethelwulf parlays with Ragnar and invites him to speak with his father. As a sign of good-will, Aethelwulf returns the
bracelet Ragnar gifted to Athelstan, confirming that the monk is still alive. Despite Ragnar's pledge of safety, Aethelw
group is ambushed by Northmen led by Horik's son. The entire group is slaughtered except for Aethelwulf who is allo
escape.

"The Choice"

While reviewing old Roman texts with Athelstan, Ecbert realises a way to defeat the Vikings in battle. Horik leads the
raiders downhill towards what he thinks is the Wessex army, but Ecbert catches the Vikings between two mounted p
movements and defeats the Vikings. Rollo is badly injured, but is recognised by Athelstan and taken back to Winche
Ragnar names his son Bjrn Ironside, as he is unscathed in the battle. lla wants to destroy the remaining Vikings
instead Ecbert decides to offer the Vikings land and employ them as mercenaries to fight against Mercia. Rollo is ret
the Vikings, and a number volunteer as mercenaries for Kwenthrith. Athelstan returns to Kattegat with the remaining
admitting to Ragnar that he holds belief in both the Christian God and the norse gods now. In the meantime, Aslaug
made orunn a free woman.

"The Lord's Prayer"

Horik's wife and children arrive in Kattegat and the village celebrates. To prove to Horik he is trustworthy, Floki poiso
Torstein. Horik reveals his plan to kill Ragnar, Lagertha, Aslaug and their children. In return for a promise to marry he
orders Siggy to kill Ragnar's children. After continued tension, Bjorn and orunn finally reconcile and commit to each
Athelstan teaches Ragnar the Lord's Prayer. After reinforcements arrive, Horik and his forces besiege Kattegat. Arriv
the main hall, Horik discovers Torstein alive and that Floki and Siggy had never betrayed Ragnar. Ragnar kills Horik
claims his "King's Sword". The last shot shows Ragnar, now king, sitting atop the iconic cliff Preikestolen.

Ragnar tells Bjrn that he never wanted to be king, that he wanted only to explore and farm. Ragnar wants to return
Wessex to claim the land he was promised by King Ecbert. Floki feels that his new family with Helga is too happy, w
Rollo wishes to be away from Siggy. runn desires to be like Lagertha, much to Bjrn's displeasure; he believes he
carrying his child. When Lagertha announces she intends to raid with Ragnar, Kalf, her right-hand man, offers to rem
take care of Hedeby. When the northmen arrive in Wessex, King Ecbert informs Ragnar that to receive their promise
the Vikings must fight for Princess Kwenthrith to appease King Ecbert's nobles. Lagertha is unsure about joining, so
Ecbert offers her the job of leading the Viking settlers in Wessex. The warriors proceed to Mercia and the settlers to
to farm, while the Viking warriors defeat Kwenthrith's uncle's army.

"The Wanderer"

A celebration is held in honor of the victory over the uncle of the princess Kwenthrith. The left arm of Torstein becom
gangrenous and the latter asks Floki to amputate. Kwenthrith the princess asks that someone brings her the head o
uncle and Ragnar questions her about the hatred she has for her uncle: she admits to having been sexually abused
the age of 6 by her uncle and oldest brother. Concerned about runn's safety, Bjrn lectures her and then propose
marry her. Prince Aethelwulf goes in search of the young brother of the princess Kwenthrith, and his army. He captu
soldier who tells him they expect reinforcements to the top of the hill. King Egbert, who woos Lagertha, offers her a

necklace; Athelstan and Lagertha continue to visit the land. Princess Judith tells Athelstan during confession that she
dreamt of sleeping with him, and they share a kiss. Back in Kattegat, Helga, Siggy, and Aslaug share strange dream
a stranger. Helga meets the stranger from her dreams. Meanwhile, Athelstan shows Lagertha the injuries to his hand
dripping with blood.

"Warrior's Fate"

Helga, Siggy, and Aslaug help Harbard with his injured hand and lodging while he tells them stories about his travels
the gods. The Vikings begin climbing the mountain to meet with Princess Kwenthrith's brother and his army. Princes
Kwenthrith asks Ragnar to spare her brother. When they are unable to see over a cliff of the mountain, Torstein volu
to go first to make sure Princess Kwenthrith's brother and his army are there, and dies valiantly. Fighting ensues,
severely injured, and eventually, Princess Kwenthrith's brother surrenders. In Kattegat, a fisherman catches two you
in his nets who have drowned. Siggy visits the ancient one to discuss Harbard and the dream in which the ancient o
injured.

"Scarred"

Aethelwulf attempts to befriend Rollo and Floki, although Floki is still not happy about fighting for Christians. Kalf and
discuss plans of what will happen when Lagertha returns, and Kalf states he has invited an important person to their
to deal with that King Horik's son Erlendur, now married to Jarl Borg's widow Torvi, and Jarl Borg's infant son. Asla
sons run out of their home and Siggy runs after to find them walking across a frozen pond where both boys fall throu
thin ice. Siggy dives in after them, and Harbard helps pull them out as Siggy drowns. While Princess Kwenthrith is g
toast, she poisons her brother Burgred.

"The Usurper"

The Vikings return to Kattegat, and the women learn of Torstein's death as the men learn of Siggy's. Ragnar is suspi

Christians, and against Athelstan. Helga tells Floki about Harbard, and he claims that Harbard is a god. Aethelwulf le
that Judith is with Athelstan's child, and is sent to the settlement to quash issues between settlers and Christians afte
Christians burned down one of the houses of the Northmen. A messenger arrives in Kattegat to tell Lagertha that he
ship has been usurped by Kalf, she asks Ragnar to assist her in retrieving her position. Ragnar tells the men that the
raid and conquer Paris in the spring. Ragnar accompanies Lagertha to speak with Kalf, although he decides to not h
for Lagertha's earl-dom. Aethelwulf leads a group of soldiers to the settlement, but instead of peace, decides instead
them. Floki tells Ragnar that Aslaug slept with Harbard and tells him that Harbard was simply another name for Odin
Ecbert finds out that the nobles and his son killed the settlers. He asks to speak privately with his son where he reve
it was his plan from the beginning and never wanted to allow the Northmen to settle on his land.

"Born Again"

Erlendur, and Jarl Borg's widow Torvi. Rollo reveals that Athelstan no longer wears his arm band. Floki receives a sig
"blood must be spilt", and kills an accepting Athelstan while he's praying. Ragnar carries Athelstan's body up the sid
mountain for burial.

"Paris"

The raiding party arrives in Frankia, getting ready for the greatest of all battles. Ragnar shocks the leaders when he
to leave Floki in charge of the attack. Both Vikings and Franks prepare for the siege as the Christians gather to pray
protection from the pagans camped just around the riverbend. New characters are shown: Count Odo, commander o
troops of Paris; Emperor Charles the Third, ruler of Paris; and his daughter Gisla who seems to have all the qualities
great leader.

"To the Gates!"

The attack to Paris takes place. The plan is simple: Lagertha, Kalf and Erlendur lead an attack from the city gate, ma
their way by taking the bridge; meanwhile, Floki, Ragnar, Bjorn and Rollo try to breach the walls from the water. As t
attack begins the fate of Paris seems to be a heavy defeat, but Princess Gisla manages to restore faith in the troops
showing the Oriflamme, the holy banner of their patron, Saint Denis. Eventually the defense holds, pushing back the
from all sides: Kalf understands that the battle is lost, and after dulling Lagertha's senses falls back with a wounded
and very few survivors. Floki's assault machines are burned with oil and fire, all them are forced to retreat. While the
celebrate their victory, at the Viking camp the warriors have to deal with their wounded, including a badly wounded B
and Ragnar who has been thrown down from the walls. Floki is consumed by his guilt, having trusted by omens of th
gods of certain victory. Helga, disgusted by his selfishness, leaves him.

"Breaking Point"

With the raiding party still healing Ragnar orders to attack again. Led by Rollo, Lagertha, and Kalf, they manage to p
bridge, but they are once again pushed back. Although the Franks have managed to defend the city, a mysterious ill
has spread in Paris and its citizens are dying. Count Odo begs the King to come to terms with the Pagans in order to
siege for the sake of the people. Ragnar's wounds won't heal, leaving him weaker and weaker. Trying to restore his
leadership he secretly meets the Franks outside the walls for an agreement; though offered gold and silver, Ragnar
accept. Knowing his end is drawing near, he asks to be baptized. Meanwhile in Kattegat, Aslaug is left in charge and
with the Christian preachers who have come north to spread the word of God.

"The Dead"

The French stand by their promise and pay gold and silver to the Vikings but the raiding party shows no sign of retur
home. Many people are still shocked at Ragnar's christening, and when the badly wounded leader dies, Bjorn is left
charge. The warriors place Ragnar's corpse into a wooden coffin and escort it to the gates of Paris, where they mee

"A Good Treason"

Ragnar, wounded and near-death, has a fever dream of walking towards the welcoming open gates of Valhalla, only
see them close before him. Aslaug asks The Seer if a woman would rule Kattegat should Ragnar die. Bjorn has Flok
arrested for killing Athelstan. When Ragnar finally awakens, he chastises Bjorn for publicly imprisoning his friend. Bj
decides to prove himself to Ragnar and plans to survive deep in the wilderness. Aslaug procures a new slave girl, Yi
use as a weapon against Ragnar. In Hedeby, Earl Kalf announces that he and Lagertha will share the Earldom, muc
the dislike of Einar. Kalf invites Einar and his men around a central post so they can vote to exile Lagertha, however
turns on them, killing the dissidents and allowing Lagertha to deliver the final insult to injury, castrating Einar. In Paris
Rollo is settling in to his new life of Frankish nobility. He marries Princess Gisla, who weeps through the ceremony a
holds a knife to his throat on their wedding night. Rollo rides to the Viking encampment outside Paris, and orders the
massacre of every man, woman, and child.

"Kill the Queen"

Bjorn has ventured off alone and must contend with the harsh conditions of the Scandinavian winter. Engaged in a
love/hate relationship with her self-centered husband, Helga frees Floki from his bonds. Ragnar confronts Helga, wh
admits what she has done, and he tells her he understands. Bjorn's younger half-brother Ubbe accompanies the
manhunt and discovers Floki hiding in the stream. Ragnar chains Floki in a cave. When Aslaug defends Floki's actio
Ragnar knocks her down. Ragnar finds Helga digging a grave in the frozen ground for her deceased daughter, of wh
death she has not yet told Floki. In Wessex, King Ecbert proposes a military buildup and a plan to rescue Princess
Kwenthrith of Mercia and her child, who are being held by rebel nobles. The king's son, Aethelwulf engages in brutal
hand-to-hand battle and eventually rescues Kwenthrith. Little does Aethelwulf know, his wife Princess Judith is now

sleeping with his father. Duke Rollo makes an attempt to fit in by cutting his hair and dressing appropriately, but cont
to be mocked by his new wife Gisla. Rollo suggests building forts to prevent the Vikings from sailing up river.

Ragnar and King Ecbert both experience separate visions of Athelstan, who relays the words "Mercy". Rollo attempt
learn the language of his new home, while enduring more of Gisla's mistreatment. Kalf hires a Berserker to assassin
Bjorn on King Horik's son's behalf. Bjorn obsesses over killing a bear that has managed to escape his traps. Floki an
Helga struggle to cope with the death of their daughter. Ragnar approaches the cave with an ax, tells Helga that she
suffered enough and frees Floki. Lagertha sleeps with Kalf and he tells her he loves her however she fails to
reciprocate. Aethelwulf has returned with the rescued Queen Kwenthrith and her son Magnus. Judith's obsession wi
Athelstan continues. Wessex continues preparing its soldiers, Count Odo readies a defense of Paris, and Ragnar cle
fish giving the impression that he is not ready to resume exploring distant lands.

After being set free, Floki visits the Seer who tells him that he has waited a long time for his arrival. He is then instru
by Aslaug to teach Ivar the way of the gods. Ragnar grows closer to Yidu and lets her live in his private home in the
woods. Ragnar and Yidu discuss how she came to be a slave. She then gives Ragnar some "medicine" from her na
lands, which leads to a drugged night of hallucination. In the wilderness Bjorn encounters the Berserker, sent by Kal
Erlendur, and kills him. He discovers King Horik's ring in the Berserker's possession. Bjorn arrives in Hedeby and int
to leave with Erlendur's wife, Torvi. Rollo is served divorce papers, but has learned the French language, leaving Gis
impressed. He then gives her his Viking band to show his allegiance to her. In Wessex, King Aelle confronts his daug
Judith over her transgressions with King Ecbert. Meanwhile during the Yol celebrations in Kattegat, King Harald Fine
arrives and declares that he intends to become King of all Norway. Ragnar then arrives to see Harald sitting in his gr
hall.

Ragnar and Bjorn discuss whether or not they trust King Harald, parenting, and being husbands, while Ragnar claim
has failed at both. Ragnar appears addicted to Yidu's "medicine", and the two discuss their deepest secrets. Yidu's f
is a Chinese Emperor, while Ragnar reveals the slaughter of his England settlement, and that he has lost the desire
explore distant lands. King Harald's brother, Halfdan the Black, arrives in Kattegat and lets Ragnar know he is eager
raid and kill Christians. Meanwhile, Torvi reveals to Bjorn that the ring he is carrying, which he took from the Berserk
Erlendur's. In Wessex, Aethelwulf and Judith argue over both of their wrong doings, and Judith tells him that they are
husband and wife only in name. Aethelwulf agrees with Queen Kwenthrith, and tells his father and King Aelle that the
need to fight together and restore Kwenthrith's power in Mercia. In Paris, Therese and Roland reveal to Charles that
plans to overthrow him. In Hedeby, Lagertha reveals to Kalf she is pregnant, and Kalf asks her to marry him. Momen
before their wedding, Lagertha stabs and kills Kalf, reclaiming her status as Earl Ingstad, ruler of Hedeby.

"What Might Have Been"

Ragnar announces the Paris raids, and gives his sons Ubbe and Hvitserk their arm rings, so they can travel with him
Paris. Before they leave, Ragnar asks the Seer how he will die. He replies that Ragnar will die when "the blind man
him". In Wessex, Ecbert sends his son Aethelwulf and Alfred on a pilgrimage to Rome. In Paris, Charles begs Rollo
return to Ragnar, and Rollo assures him that he will not betray Paris or his wife. Odo reveals to Therese that he will
Charles killed and overthrown. Meanwhile in Kattegat, after the warriors have set sail, Harbard arrives. While sailing
Paris, a storm throws the Viking ships off course. Ragnar, Lagertha, and Harald arrive first in France, where they set
camp. Harald and Halfdan take their French prisoners and burn them alive while Bjorn watches from a distance. Onc
the rest of the ships arrive, the Vikings sail up river towards France, and notice there is no sign of Rollo's camp. Rag
takes more "medicine", and hallucinates of his days as a farmer. As the ships approach closer to Paris, they see Rol
waiting with his new French allies.

"The Profit and the Loss"

Ragnar suggests attacks from the river and the land. Rollo notices Lagertha's attack as her warriors become stuck in
marsh, and fires upon them and the Viking ships. As the ships approach the forts, Rollo orders the Franks to raise a
metal chain between the forts, which capsizes Harald's ship. Lagertha's ground attack retreats, and the Franks begin
light the Viking ships on fire. Harald and Halfdan are rescued by Bjorn, and Ragnar saves Floki from drowning. As th
Viking ships retreat, Ragnar angrily yells to Rollo that he saved his life when everyone wanted him dead. In Kattegat
Sigurd watches from a distance as Harbard and Aslaug kiss. In Wessex, Ecbert leaves for Mercia. He arrives to mee
with Prince Wigstan of Mercia, who informs him that the Mercians will never accept Kwenthrith as their Queen. He te
Ecbert that he will hand over Mercia to him. In Paris, the Vikings arrive back at camp, which the Franks have ambus
Helga is alive but severely wounded, while Ragnar's sons and Yidu are unharmed. Ragnar demands more "medicine
from Yidu. Floki has a vision of Harbard having sex with Aslaug. Bjorn demands a plan of attack from Ragnar. Ragna
responds they will retreat tomorrow, while mumbling to a severed head.

As the Vikings retreat, Ragnar's leadership is questioned by Harald. Ragnar tells Bjorn to halt the ships at a cliff face
reveals a new plan. They will lift the ships over the cliff, walk them around the Frank's forts, and slip them back into t
river on the way to Paris. In Paris, Odo tells Charles they cannot trust Rollo, and Roland agrees. Gisla reveals to Ch
that she carries Rollo's child. Odo meets with Therese, who along with Roland betray him, and execute him. Rollo is
given the Iron Hand of Frankia. In Wessex, Ecbert returns after victory over the royal council of Mercia. He tells
Kwenthrith that she is no longer Queen, as he has been sworn in as King of Mercia. Meanwhile in Kattegat, Aslaug s
Harbard with other women and grows jealous. She confronts Harbard, who then leaves a second time. In France, R
asks Yidu for more drugs, but she denies him again. He tells her she is not free, and she threatens him with his Wes
secret. Ragnar drowns her in a fit of rage. Back in Wessex, Kwenthrith sneaks into Ecberts bed and threatens to kill
but Kwenthrith is then killed by Judith.

"Death All 'Round"

As the Vikings move the ships across land, Harald and Halfdan slaughter a Frankish family. Lagertha has a miscarri
and is comforted by Ragnar. In Rome, Aethelwulf and Alfred arrive, and the Pope makes Alfred a consul of Rome. In
Wessex, Ecbert is crowned King of Wessex and Mercia. King Aelle voices displeasure, and Ecbert tells him they are
longer equals. In Kattegat, Sigurd discovers Siggy dead in the river. He tells Aslaug, who shrugs off her death, and m
jokes with Ivar. In Paris, Charles makes Roland the protector of Paris, and they share each other's bed. The Vikings
arrive in sight of Paris, and slip the ships into the river. Erlendur tells Torvi she must kill Bjorn or else he'll kill her son
Torvi approaches Bjorn with Erlendur's crossbow, but instead turns and kills Erlendur. Bjorn tells Ragnar, who is in
withdrawal without his "medicine", that Paris cannot be taken without him. Ragnar replies he does not care about Pa
and that he is here for Rollo. As the Vikings sail for Paris, Ragnar mutters to himself that he must kill Rollo.

"The Last Ship"

On the river, a fleet of Frankish ships approaches the Vikings, with Rollo leading the way. In Paris, Charles has Rola
and Therese executed, while Gisla says prayers for Rollo. The Vikings and Franks battle on the river, with the Viking
defeating the first fleet of French ships. Rollo then leads his remaining ships into a bloody battle. Halfdan, Floki, and
Lagertha are all wounded. Ragnar and Rollo begin to battle and come to a stalemate. The Franks win the battle, and
Ragnar tells Bjorn to take Lagertha and retreat to the ships. Ragnar charges Rollo, but is grabbed and thrown into th
ships, as they sail away in defeat. Rollo is greeted by Charles and Gisla, and crowned to the applause of Paris. In
Kattegat, many years pass. Ragnar has disappeared. A messenger delivers news to Aslaug and Bjorn that the Vikin
settlement was slaughtered, and that Ragnar has a son named Magnus in Wessex. Bjorn tells his brothers, who now
resent Ragnar. Bjorn prepares to sail into the Mediterranean. Ragnar returns to Kattegat a hated man, and challenge
sons to kill him if they want to be King.
