PSIII Final Report Kristin Kobbert

Kristin Kobbert has been completing her PSIII at Our Lady of the Assumption School under the
mentorship of Mrs. Andrea Nemecek. Kristin teaches math, social studies, art, and physical
education to Grade 3. Also, she has taught a Grade 2 language arts class and multi-age Olympic
Challenge course to Grade 1 to 3.
One of the skills that Kristin possesses is an ability to plan and prepare for her lessons. Kristin
created daily lesson plans and long range plans. Her plans include the essential components of
setting student learning objectives and assessing those objectives. In addition to these essential
components Kristin effectively planned her lessons by including a set induction, having structured
activities, key questions, and a conclusion.
Kristin has many skills as a teacher. She communicates the lessons that she has planned clearly.
Kristins very good planning is taught in a clear and structured manner. She delivers her lessons
using a variety of instructional methodologies including hand-on activities centres, and group
sharing activities. She also effectively uses technology in her lesson, specifically use of Smart Board
technology, educational games, and using technology to engage students. By using a variety of
instructional methodologies, Kristin was able to successfully engage students. Kristin uses her class
room learning environment in an effective manner. Just as Kristin sees the importance of opening
lessons with an objective, she also provides appropriate closure in the form of a summary. As a
member of our staff, Kristin continually implemented strategies to help our school implement our
Continuous Improvement Plan
Kristin established ownership in her class room by the end of her practicum. She assumed the
leadership role of the teacher, not only in her class room, but also within the school. She showed
initiative in assisting in school activities, both curricular (Choice Fridays) and co-curricular
(Volleyball). Kristin was active in school functions and visited and assisted in a variety of other
classrooms. By assuming these leadership experiences she quickly developed positive relationships
with her students. This positive relationship helped her to establish effective classroom
management. When misbehavior of student did occur, Kristin took ownership of the situation and
worked through an effective process to solve the problem. Kristin will continue to add management
strategies as she gains more experience in the class room.
Throughout her practicum Kristin effectively used assessment techniques to improve student
learning. Kristin keeps accurate records of her summative assessments and she also includes
formative assessment practices in her lessons.
Kristin always presented herself in a truly professional manner. She fulfilled all of her responsibilities
on staff. She became an active member of our learning community. Kristin was able to develop
good relationships with our staff. After class room observations Kristin was very willing to discuss
areas of improvement and worked to improve her instruction. Also, Kristin gave back to our
community by being an active member in our collaborative teams. Kristin looked for professional
development opportunities in and out of the school. Also, Kristin was an active member of our faith
community,
Kristin Kobbert has many gifts as a student teacher. She will be a successful teacher. She has all
the essentials in her teacher tool kit to succeed in her professional career.
Respectfully yours,

A Community of Hope and Learning
