1. Introduction
Irrigation may be defined as the application of water to soil for the purpose of supplying moisture
essential for plant growth.

For unsaturated soil, the hydraulic
conductivity decreases many folds as the
moisture content decreases. Moreover, it is
difficult to measure h because tensiometer
becomes inoperative when the tension
