This month I was able to see Ms. Delaneys
class in action. Student awareness of standards and objectives helped create purposeful lessons. I asked one particular student about why he was highlighting specific words within a word problem and he answered, these are math language words, and we need to understand them to solve the problem.

Supporting our Students through
Google, Read & Write At a recent Grade 8 meeting, several teachers shared how they have introduced Google Read&Write into their classroom as an academic tool for students in need of additional
support in the areas of: reading
comprehension, note taking, organization, and writing. UDL Mindset in K2! Each week Ms. Amendolas students create a peak at the week newsletter for their families by drawing and writing what they learned.
Mr. Hanlons students read The
Treasure of Lemon Brown, this month as part of their close reading practice and work towards mastering text observations and inferences. Before students began reading, they were asked to focus on one of the Edisons 5 Rs while completing work. This helped students remain focused and on task. Once students finished their reading and discussion, they used google classroom to record several of their inferences around the storys characters and theme.
